I also didn't know until recently that in 97 they swotched the F series, but when they switched the F series they kept the Ranger on the 5.5. As far as I know the ranger is still 5.5. So virtually endless options for the Ranger, but us who need a truck and pay the money get limited? What are they doing to us?

Actually the Ranger is 4.5 on 5, not 5.5 on 5. To my knowledge Rangers have always been 4.5s.

Really..
I didn't know that either.. I've never had one, I guess I was assuming that ford was similar to chev. I had an S10 and it was the same bolt pattern as it's bigger 5 lug brothers. I know my old AMC Jeep Cherokee was on "A" ford pattern of one kind, I wonder which one it was.

22 or 23 inch tires!! When will the insanity stop?? I am not a fan of the big rim - tiny tire look and the performance of those tires, especially on a truck, has got to suck! No idea how much it would cost to have the rims mounted on the tires because usually it's done the other way around. . .I mean I don't claim to be a tire expert either but I usually have the tires mounted on the rims, drives better that way

I know I haven't bought the truck yet, but I'm pretty sure what model and year i'm getting so I want to know exactly how much the rims would cost, because I want to know how much I would have to save. I just want an estimate about how much everything I plan to do to the truck will cost? I live in California, and when a nice black f150 with big ole rims passes by, it just looks so nice. I have a lot of friends that like imports or domestics, but most agree that the f150 looks badass with the big rims and a nice paint job. It's just me. I live in the city so a big *** wheels are just not for me. I love the way it looks, but it's not for me.

No baby girl, it's 22 or 23" rims

235/70/16 is your stock size which is a 29.0" tall tire on 16" rims.
So your rollin' on 29's...................................tires that is.

16s were standard. 17's were an option. Off road package I believe.

And yes the rangers/old explorers/mazda twins were all 5x4.5

Yep. I'm not sure what package the 17's came with, I'd have to check my info but I do have the Off Road package.

Suffering from rim/size envy Matt??

17 is as large as I'd ever go. At least it doesn't look like I'm running around on rubberbands!

Naw I'd go up to 20's with 33's or larger on a 4x4. More rigidity, less sidewall means less vibrations, better handeling, nicer ride and still penty or rubber for rim protection and ride comfort while off road.

I can't do the rubber band thing if I wanted to becasue I live on a dirt road. It'd bang my rims to pieces first trip coming home with them.

Same here. 2 1/2 miles of potholes and gravel. . .a 10th of a mile dirt driveway.

My truck is never clean anymore

I know the feeling.

In the summer I can wash it and leave it for a few hours while the yard drys so I dont sling mud every where. Not even drive it and there is a layer of dust on it from sitting.
