Yeah, they are pretty cool.
I am using that one also.

And a reminder and timezone clock.

If I only knew how to translate those days and the moon word.
I have checked the xml file but I didn't find a way to translate.

Do you happen to know that?

So that it displays the days and moon in Dutch.
Other widgets allow you to translate the words but not this one.

Oh I don't know.....I am not sure how you would even go about modifiying a widget (I assume you would do such a task with there widget making program)....I would send a quick email to yahoo and ask.....but at this point, I have no idea how to modify one....give me some time to tinker with this stuff....maybe I will figure it out.....

Go to Documents and Settings/My Documents/My Widgets/

Weather Widget

The Weather.kon

The code for the widget is in the .kon file.
Usually you have an array for month/days ...stuff like that.
But not in this widget.
And those are no graphics either.

All my widgets are "*.widget" extensions.....

...are we the only ones interested in this stuff?.....I kinda figured there would be more discussion about this technology......

You have both .kon and .widget files.

My worldclock is .widget.

But The Yahoo Weather Widget is a .kon file.

.kon is some sort of zipped . widget file I believe.

I don't think we have the same thing....I show all my files (including system files)......and I cannot find a *.kon file anywhere on my machine....I wonder if they package something different for you....outside the U.S.

Well, you just found out today about the widgets, you wrote.
And I read about them 2-3 weeks ago.

Maybe nobody knows yet.

But for those interested, be carefull Installing these, don't say yes to every question the set up is asking you.

Are widgets one of those things we'll all be looking for a program to clean up in a few months, because our computers are running so slow we can't check to see who Jamzwayne has "learned" in front of a BBQ joint?

Does not look to be it....my anti-spyware software on my server would have thrown a fit if it was....

EDIT TO ADD:

now I also did a custom install to make sure that it did not install all the other Yahoo! internet options (search bar, change default search engine, etc...)....

I don't need a widget tracking my internet travels in order to have a full time weather report. I have 4 different weather sites listed in my favorites, so a full weather report is only a click away whenever I want it. No need to have it sucking up computer resources 24/7 just to save one click.
