sound card question..
sound card question..
I bought some bose 5.1 surround speakers, only the sub and left/right speakers are working, they kick real good...on my sound card I have three plug ins, pink (your right) green (center) blue left..
the speaker conectors are green ( your right ) black center and orange ( left )...
only when green is pluged into green do I get sound out of the sub and two speaker's, the black and orange plug are amplified by the sub, if they touch you hear arking over the speakers...I wrapped them up with electrical tape...
Do I need a new sound card than can support 5.1 surround sound? Coumputer is 3.0 celleron..
Thanks....and no, I don't talk to my coumputer !!!!!!!!

To get true surround you'll need a 5.1 sound card. There's lots of em out there now. A lot of motherboard come with 5.1 or better built onto the board. I had one board that was 8.1 (whatever you'd use it for). Mine now is 5.1 or 7.1 capable. I think one plug is for front left right, another is rear left right, one center, one subwoofer. Then there's a plug for middle left right (7.1). Unless your speakers have a circuit in them to fake surround sound from a stereo jack, you probably have to have everything plugged into the appropriate output on a sound card to get them to work.
Yea you have to have a 5.1 surround sound card.
Your curent card is only stereo.
Green is audio out (speakers)
Pink is Mic
Blue is audio in (outside source, cd player, etc)
surround sound will have
white
light blue
red
green
black
orange
They can be got fairly cheap but do not go for anything less than Creative Labs preferably one of the Sound Blaster series
