December Rainbow

I took this pic just after a lightning storm here in Tennessee. The sky was a creepy shade of green during the storm. Then it cleared up just enough to see the sunset. I looked in the other direction and saw this. This happened just before nightfall, so the pics are kind of dark. Just thought I'd share.

This is the beginning of the rainbow:

And this is the tail end of it:

There's a few more pics in my gallery if you want to see them.

04 RED,

The storm wasn't that bad here. Just a little bit of heavy lightning and a few drizzles of tiny hail. Good luck up your way!

I drove thru it border to border on I64 a couple of weeks ago.
Beautiful contry thru there. I couldnt believe how deep and rich thier top soil was. Around here if you have 2 foot of top soil you are doing good and that's rare. Where they would dig thru a hill for the highway I would see about 10'-15' of top soil in Kentucky.

Cool rainbow. As long as I'm safe and dry I love to watch storms and freaky weather.

sleddogg,

I have never seen a vertical rainbow. That would be a sight. I'll be on the lookout.

WMR,

Same here. I'll go out on the porch in a lightning storm just to watch it streak across the sky. That is if it's not to close by.

FL,

Glad to make you happy.

PSS-MAG,

Yep, lot's of rich soil in Kentucky. But just across the border in Tennessee it's just about all red clay.

silversvt04,

Glad you had a nice visit in East TN. For the most part, the people are pretty friendly around here. Gatlinburg is a nice place. I go there every other year just to "get away".

peacemaker, They usually happen when is is partly sunny with lite flurries, usually colder like in the teens, they will not be very bright but can last for a while. Not sure if TN has the right kind of weather for them to occur there.
I have seen a half dozen or so of them.

Sled...

Yes and they are ussually the worst ones.

The one phenomena that I would like to see is the ball lightening in Arizona.
It's just a ball of electricity that travels horizontal and burns everything in it's path.

Ball lightning in Arizona? Sounds interesting. I'd like to head out that way to see that.

I've always wanted to go to Roswell, NM and check out that place (Area 51?) where supposedly an alien space craft crashed landed. There was supposedly dead alien corpses in it that the Armed Forces found and took pictures and made descriptions of what they saw.

I've even heard tale that there were two or three live aliens standing nearby the downed craft. There was something called the "Blue" top secret files that contained the actual "on the scene" descriptions located at the White House.

Then, when some investigators asked to see these files, over 75% of the words were blotched out with black ink so that no one would ever know what was seen that night in Roswell, NM. Hmmm, sounds like they wanted to hide something from us. Wonder what that could be???
