It is the connection in the steering wheel that lets your horn, cruse, and airbag work while you turn the wheel

Alright, reason why I asked about a clock spring is becuase I took the Mountaineer yesterday to the dealer for feeling that the steering wheel seems to have play in it, and over bumps, it clunks. They told me they found a bad Clock Spring. I told them to go a head and fix it, part was 60 bucks, Labor was 260 bucks! outch! Its nice and tight now, with no rattles.

I forgot to ask them in the frist place what makes a clock spring go bad like that?? Do you guys know?

Usually, a worn muffler bearing causes it to vibrate until it gets a hairline fracture in it...
