New Law: Fed's to move dimmer switch

Due to an abnormally high accident rate the Fed's have told automakers to move all headlight dimmer switches back to the floorboard. Seems a high number of accidents had occurred in Arkansas due to drivers getting their foot hung up in the steering wheel.

To those who are to young to remember foot operated dimmer switches, please disregard.

I wish it was still on the floor.

I too, miss having it on the floor. I do have to say though, that I haven't had to replace one since they were moved. Winter time was hard on them on the floor. You get in and all that slop and salt would get in them , and it wasn't long before they would get stuck or you had to stomp that sucker to switch it.

This reminds me of a 'too young to remember when' story. I used to drive an old pickup with a three on the tree. I went through a free safety check that a dealer was offering and the kid they had moving the vehicles didn't have a clue how to shift it. One of the dealers older and wiser employees had to move it.

Haven't thought about that one. My dad had a Chevy pick up when I was growing up with 3 on the tree that I use to drive some. I sure a lot of folks today would scratch their heads trying to figure out were to shift em.

My very first truck, 69 F100, I6, 3 on the tree!

Till I busted the collar on the collum power shifting, couldnt find another one ANYWHERE. So had to put a culomn out of a 4 speed and add a hurst shifter. That was the end of that.

My hubby's Bronco has the dimmer on the floor. It is more convenient, I think, but like the other guys said, tends to get dirty and malfunction.
