I have had this for a while with no problems but recently it quit doing the auto scan. it was set up to scan at 2am and now it will only scan when i hit the scan button. the last few days Ive changed the times and setting and its still not auto scanning. it is up to date.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem is.
I do have Norton Internet Security and have had both working together with no problems for a year.

 

without looking into it....verify that your Task Scheduler service is set to automatic and is running....

I think that was it, but i cant set it up because i don't have the password. I had a computer problem and took it in to the shop to get it fixed. they ended up reformatting it. now i don't know what password was used.

 

You shouldnt need one....when you first start XP do you get the screen where you can click your name? If not click start and log off and log off again. At that screen hit Ctrl -Alt - Del twice. You should get a login screen

administrator and leave the password blank.


and if that doesnt work...reset the password

1. Reboot Windows in Safe Mode.

2. Click Start, and then click Run.

3. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK: control userpasswords2

4. Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password.

5. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.

I tried the "work around" and windows cant find Gpedit.msc

I think i got it. I started in safe mode but couldn't change the passwords but i did add another user and gave it administrator access. i change the Task Scheduler with the new user so it should work.

I get confused and frustrated with computers. If you need any help fixing Caterpillar equipment then i can help.
