It has the power to generate love, hate, anger, rage, appreciation, and more all at the same time or independently.
But yea I think he was just looking for synonyms for the word hate.

I never considered it a fear.... That is right though.
Ironic here is that we were just talking about jealousy at work the other day and trying to describe it.
