that is wild!

I was watching a thing on satelite on the history of logging the other night.
They were comparing vintage logginf equipment to today. They showed one machine they use now that rolls up to the tree. Grabs a hold of the tree. An acuall chain saw that was outrageously huge. came out and cut thru the tree in about 3 seconds flat. Then the arm picked the tree up turned it side ways, these two knifes came out wrapped around thr trunk and the rollers rolled the tree up and down to de limp it, that took another 10 seconds. then it ran the tree back up to the end and the saw came back out and loped off an 8'-10' section, then it ran up another 8'-10' and loped off another section. Tree was cut, delimped, and two or 3 logs out of it in less than 1 minute. It was absolutely awesome to watch. I'll try to fin pics.

I've seen that program as well, pretty awesome what they can accomplish these days. Makes logging a whole lot quicker and easier! The machine that lees posted is similar to the one that was used to log my folks property this spring, amazing to watch it work!

Just curious, what is delimping? Do they put it in a cast or something? Maybe it is kind of like delimbing. Sorry, just had to.

when it rolls the tree back and forth delimbing it, a computer calculates the girth and calculates the best place to cut it for maximum yield. (Yeah i said girth)

I love that word!
I've been driving my co workers crazy this last month with Girth, badonkadonk, and the mental image of me not pooping out other peoples outlandish unobtainable request.
