Lake effect clouds, heavy snow and sunshine

Driving home yesterday i took these pics as i approched the snowbelts south of buffalo. The sun was out when i left work and in the distance you can see where the clouds are coming off lake erie causing 1-3 feet of snow but only in a 2-3 mile wide band. Everywhere else the sun is out and blue skies. Sorry pics suck but its my camera phone.

Peace bridge going to canada

downtown buffalo

closer to the snow

into it big time.

Seeing this made me think of the old WKRP in Cincinatti show....

Jennifer Marlowe meets Venus Flytrap for the first time, and he walks in all pimped out~~red velever suit and wide brimmed hat, etc.

Jennifer: "Are you Earth, Wind, or Fire?"

Venus: " I'm fire, baby, 'cuz women seek the heat!"

Thats cool. Lake effect snow can be weird like that. Snow squalls are like that too. They can appear outta nowhere, drop a foot of snow and then disappear. Radar cant detect them either.
Those are my 3 favorite words though: lake effect snow.

I read somewhere that around the great lakes is the only place in the world that has lake effect snow.

We had a couple of inches the other night and are supposed to get some more on Monday night.

We are suppose to maybe get our first snow here wednesday. Of course this far out it is not certain and may get moved back or taken out all together. I am taking a road trip to NC with my parents, sister inlaw, and nephew, next weekend so I'm sure I will run into some snow then.

Was planning on taking my truck and pulling a 97 F150 behind it. But I guess plans have changed. Now we are taking a moving truck, and pulling a trailer with the 97 behind that. Then my mom and sister inlaw will be following us in moms Exploder. Then Mom, Dad and I will be coming back in the Exploder.
