A moment of weakness-
A moment of weakness-
While it's true I want to finally pay a car off in my life- this is a very swet deal, it seems...
I got an E-mail about Ford's red-tag sale. They aren't doing it up big like GM, with commercials & all, but they're doing it... Putting a few more nails in GM's coffin...
But, anyhoo- for some reason- I'm starting to like the Super Duty's. It may have something to do wit the two ULTRA-SWEET Lariat's that in our parkign lot; but I'm not sure...
Anyhoo, I looked at two 2005's at North Central Ford. Crew cab F-250's. One was Dark Shadow Grey (Gray-whatever) and Arizona Beige. One was a V-10 (DSG) and the other was a 5.4L. They were both XLT's, the Arizona Beige one had the Leather package, reverse sensors, 6-disc in-dash, automatic, adjustable pedals, chrome exhaust tip, etc... The greay one had all of that, except it had a sliding rear window and instead of the 6-disc, it had a single CD, single cassette player (Which I like).
They both stickered over 34K- but today I can get either for $24,800 and some change. I'm $6,000 in the hole on my trade- so that puts it back at 30K range.
If you had a shot at a Crew Cab F-250 w/V-10 or 5.4L, but you had to give up your Expedition to do it... Would ya?
I like that new Avalon Limited too.. I know, that's a huge variance in vehicular preference, but I think both are awesome... I gotta go TD the Avalon...

Though faced with this vary same temptation all the time, I wouldn't do it without a reason. My reason is I tow a travel trailer that is at the upper end of weight ratings for an f150/expedition. I wouldn't just up and trade an expi for a superduty just because it'd be cool. The Expi is more functional overall unless you really need to haul some heavy stuff around or pull a sizable trailer with it, not to mention your gas milage will suffer a bit with the SD.
I ended up beefing up the cooling on the f150 and sticking with it to tow the travel trailer since we traded the Expi on a new car that gets about double the gas milage for my wife's commute to work. She loves that car probably more than I would've a new SD, so all is good I guess.
Sooo, is that new car bug squashed yet? Or is it still running around your trousers somewhere?

The SD's may look sweet, but they are WORK TRUCKS and will not ride anywhere near as nice as what you are used to. While you may think it's ok for short jaunts and buzzing around town, the rougher ride will get old quick on longer trips. Not to mention the higher fuel costs to push around a 6000 lb truck for no reason other than to 'look cool'.
WTF are you thinking, wanting to go $30K deeper in debt in order to ride around in a big work truck that you don't have any need for? How big of a trailer will you be pulling?
Another thing to consider is that the economy has been riding on a high wave for many years, but the hard, rocky shoreline of Crushing National Debt is approaching quickly. Smart people will be prepared with personal savings and investment portfolios to take advantage of the impending increase in interest rates. If you're behind the 8 ball with lots of debt, your position will deteriorate as interest rates rise and the economy slows.

Not to highjack, or get OT, but is there something different with the 06 F150 seats? I've only looked inside one or two 06's and it didnt seem to me there was a difference.....Just wondering
Oh...Agent Hersh...sounds like a good deal..who cares about paying it off. Because you know, as soon as you do pay it off, your gonna go get another one and the payment will be right there again. I say, if you like the SD, go for it.

A paid truck is great but i want a better tow vehicle.

Keep the Expy and pay it off. You'll be glad you did when it's over and done with. My truck will be paid off this Summer. It's got 58,600 miles on it in the almost 5 years I've had it.
Let's just say there's some big plans in my mind for my F150 this upcoming Summer. Lightning wheels, L wheel stops, BFG low-pro tires, level it out, new exhaust, L headlights, clear corners, billet grille, smooth out the rear bumper, painted door and tailgate handles, programmer, already got a MAC intake & Carbon fiber tails, new ball-joints, urethane end links, shocks are coming Christmas
, ok, Ill stop now before everyone starts to hate me.
