Word Problem (The one Everyone hates)

It's 11:53 AM CDT, and a Chevrolet Corvette, on I-20 passes through Dallas, TX- Mile Marker 467 A/B heading East at 75 MPH. At the exact same time, a Ford Lightning leaves Rayville, Louisiana Mile Marker 138 heading West at 80 MPH.

Assuming no traffic jams and that neither will make any stops; at which point along I-20 will they meet? The distance between the two cars at the onset is 307 miles.

Where will they meet, and at what time?

Note- the Texas border ends at mile marker 636 heading East- Louisiana's counts up from 1 at the 1 mile mark.

(Whoops, gave you too much)

25 years ago I could have answered that question in about 2 minutes using a pencil and piece of paper. BUt CRS has set in and today I couldn't answer that question if I wanted to. I can tell you they will meet on the Texas side of the border in less than 2 hours.

I KNOW what you are up to Hersh! You are supposed to meet some hot Cajun chic and you are trying to get us to help you how long it will be before you two collide. Good try, but I am not going to help you!

LOL-

I was trying to see if I could remember how to do it, and it took about 3 minutes for it to click, but I got it. I checked the other side- and it worked out matematically and given the time-to-distance measurements...

I asked some guys about this years ago in the Army, and those idiots said a truck goign 60 MPH was faster than a car goign 60 MPH because it has taller tires...

I said- "Do you guys hear yourselves?" 60 MPH is a measurement of time & distance- it has nothign to do with how tall the tires are. 60 MPH is 60 MPH whether yo are running that fast, flying that fast, or driving that fast. I said the only way an indicated 60 MPH on one vehicle is faster than another showing 60, is if one's speedometer is reading incorrectly, or someone has changed the wheel/tire height of the vehicle from the factory specs.

Wow, we are a bunch of sickos here at F150Online. RC's thread about some guy getting screwed to death by a horse only has half the replies of this thread but twice the views. Buncha sickos I tell ya!
