Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge
Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge
I'm taking the wife & our 1 year old son down to Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge next week. Anyone want to suggest some "must-dos" for us? Any good hotel suggestions? We stayed in a cabin three years ago - which was fun - but I need to keep it cheap this time!
Dollywood is always fun for the kids.....sometimes Dolly herself is there!
...if the wife is into shopping (who's isn't).....Pigeon Forge is nothing but outlet malls....Gatlinburg is the typical "tourist" spot...I would recommend seeing the Aquarium while there....nice stuff there....
...above all...make sure that you check out the scenery....if you like to hike...there are some excellent trails you can walk...quite a few will lead to some nice waterfalls...
...have fun....it is a great spot to go
.....oh yeah....I would HIGHLY recommend checking out the micro-brew at the end of the strip (used to be the end...now there is more development)...it is called Smoky Mountain Brewery and Restaurant.....make sure you ask for the BIG beer glass.....

We always stay at the Eastside Motel. It's inexpensive, CLEAN, family run and no frills. Phone, showers that run like rivers, 2 beds, etc. My wife's family has stayed there every time they go...for years. Convenient to downtown Gatlinburg. Park your car and walk downtown...no parking fees
I'd maybe go to some of the falls. There are some with short trails that only take about 30 minutes to get to. Get a map at the park visitor center and it'll tell you all about them. Other than that, don't forget to drive back to Cades Cove in the early AM and also go up to the top of the mountain on the way to NC....pretty up there.
