Angry Bad Wind........

Our detached single garage survived the hellacious amount of rain and hail when the tornado sirens were going off around 5 local time. Weather cleared right up after a few minutes. Wife and I went to run errands and as we were coming home the wind starting picking up again. We pulled in the drive and our 16' flag pole was leaning way over. As I was trying to get the flag down I could hear the wind roaring. I yelled at my wife to come outside and hear it. She took one look and ran back into the hallway and wouldn't come back out. I went back inside and the wind was the loudest I have ever heard it. After awhile things calmed back down. Next thing I know my neighbor is at the door, telling me my garage blew down. He was also picking up shingles that had blown off his house all over my back yard. I have 3 riding mowers and a couple of push mowers and they didn't get hurt yet. The wind blew the north wall out and the roof fell in. I know it is nothing like what happened down south and I have a new appreciation for what they have gone through. Still frustrating though...

wow, that sounds like that would have been scary to go through for a while. Glad no one was hurt! What caused all this wind??

SE Missouri here.... we had it too.

The radar was kind of scary looking last night honestly... Several bow echos (which means strong winds at a minimum... often associated with rotation as well).

Minimal damage here locally in Viburnum. I honestly expected to see my jobsite trailer on its side this morning when I got here.

Last week though, there was a tornado in my hometown. It was a F4... I wish I had remembered my digital camera on my trip home for Thanksgiving; it was unbelievable. Here's one a buddy sent me...

And, believe it or not, that house was in VERY good shape compared to some that I saw... or, rather, didn't see (because they were blown away -- literally).

Mother Nature is an impressive force. Not one to be taken lightly.

thats some wild crazy weather! The weather recently over the last 4-5 years have been getting worse and worse IMO. Summers are hotter, winters are colder then normal and more hurricanes (intense ones to add to it) and more tornado out breaks!

who knows whats happening in this world of weather, but I wouldn't doubt if we see a "Super Storm" brew up sometime within our lifetime. Might just happen, who knows

I live in a basement house that is dug into a hill side in a bottom, and have never been worried about toronado's, we do get them occasionally here in South Central MO. But your right, last night it got bad!!!! I was a little worried. At one point it sounded like a semi was barreling through my front yard. My heaviest windchimes "about 3 foot long" were blowing straight out at 90° angle! Only reason I didn't belive it was a toronado was becasue it was blowing from the east. I watched the storm come up and knew it was going to be bad becasue it came from the south east. 99% of our storms come from Kansas ir some times Oklahoma. Both of which are to our west. If they come from any other direction you'd better tie everything down and hope that is enough!
