Help me name that tune...

Well, a piano piece. In the beginning of Crimson Tide, while Gene Hackman is going over Denzel Washington's service record, there's a piano piece playing in the background. I've heard this millions of times, heard it played when I was in band in middle and high school, but I can't remember what it is. Anyone know?

I dunno. I hate it when Amazon doesn't have the option to listen to bits of tracks...I know it's a classical piece, I just dunno what it is.

Try asking at the web site below. I think you have to join but it doesn't cost anything.

I think it's Hans Zimmer.

<edit> Then again... maybe not. I just snared it off of Limewire... I mean, went to Wal-Mart and bought the soundtrack.

If you go to this website:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...40144?v=glance

it looks like the name of that track is "Opening/Conflict/Alabama" or something along those lines. I'm not sure, but there is some good info there. Good luck!

It's been used in a dozen trailers, most prominently in the ID4 trailer. And why not? Hans Zimmer created 2 of the most powerful themes in the past decade for this movie. It's so empowering that it'll fill you with confidence and defiance.

There are only 5 tracks on this CD (all horribly out of order and with incorrect titles) even though it lasts over an hour (the longest track is almost 25 minutes long). It was a bad mistake by Hollywood Records to organise the CD this way as you have to skip thru a lot of tension/filler music (this CD has plenty of exactly that) to get to the good bits.

There is an extended score out there featuring an additional 10 minutes of music, it has a blue cover instead of a red one and has a correct track listing in chronological order. As follows:

1. Opening/Conflict/Alabama-9:42
2. Resurrection-9:47
3. Little Ducks-2:03
4. 1SQ (Alternate)-11:09
5. Mutiny-8:58
6. Day 12-5:44
7. Three, Two, One-1:54
8. 3:00/1SQ-16:09
9. November 2nd/2SQ-2.32
10. End Titles-7:33

I remember reading this question but had never seen the movie.

It was on TV today and that music is

Beethoven's "Moonlight"

also known as

Piano Sonata No. 14 In C Sharp Minor, Op. 27 No. 2
