It Don't Scare Me None -- John Mellencamp (Falling From Grace Soundtrack)
"Well it don't scare me none
I've been there before.
Side swiped an old oak tree
In a rusted-out old Ford.
Shot at guys who were shootin' back
In the Second World War.
Well it don't scare me none
I've been there before..."

I just realized that I can think of a ton of old songs (and I am not that old) But not many that I can think of that I listen to now mentions a car. I guess maybe it's so ordinary in todays world that cars a part of everyday life that they are now over looked as an icon.

Alan Jackson did one recently...a great song...I heard it only half listening, realized what it was about, rewound it and started over. I love it....
"First Love"
Written by Alan Jackson.
I was fifteen, she was eighteen,
The prettiest thing I'd ever seen in my life.
An' I loved her at first sight.
I found her in Marietta, a town north of Atlanta.
I brought her home to see my folks,
They loved her too.
[Verse 2]
We were together for a long time,
Thought it would be for all time.
But things change and re-arrange, she had to go.
She left me cryin' in '79, an airline pilot in Caroline.
I was a wreck, can't drive a check:
It broke my heart.
[chorus]
My first love was an older woman.
There's been many since,
But there'll never be another.
Built in nineteen fifty-five, snowshoe white, overdrive,
I should've never sold her, I'll always love her,
She was mine.
Years went by, teardrops dried;
I got her back, I was surprised.
In '93, a gift to me on Christmas Eve.
We were both older, so I restored her.
Could've sold her, for a lot more.
But I will never, she's mine forever,
Until I go.
[chorus]
I'll never sell her, she's mine forever,
I love her so.

his dad and uncle buy a big block Dodge from auction. Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side. Tore down the engine, can still remember that rumbling sound. Shot a coat of primer and never touched the inside.
Made a great moonshiner's car.
