Anyone planning to see Walk the Line soon? I want to see it but the impending wedding will probably make that unkiely for some time. The reviews so far are pretty good but I never put much stock in reviews. I don't think Joaquin Pheonix looks like Cash but they say he sounds a lot like him and does all his own singing. Any big Man in Black fans here with strong opinions one way or another about this movie?

 

Will probably see the movie this weekend. I enjoyed Cash's music but not a huge fan. He certainly had a lot of respect from his peers. I can remember as a kid, hearing him on the radio for the first time. It was about 1954 or 1955, I was sitting in a 1939 Lincoln Zephyr coupe that was on a used carlot in front of my Dad's shop. It was possibly "I Walk the Line" or "Get Rythem" that played and I was hooked on the sound.


BTW, that Zephyr was powder blue and I think he was asking $700.

 

i also agree that the actor doesnt look much like him, i will be seeing the movie today, i will let you know what i think, Cash is the only country i listen to, i love the guy

I am forcing the little lady to take me tonight... I agree Joaquin doesnt look like Cash, but he sure sounds like him in the previews. I listen to all the old Outlaw Country singers, it's about the only country I like. Anyway, I think it is going to be great.

 

Two thumbs up , this was a great movie and it explained a lot about Johnny, the songs he wrote, and why he wears black. You will not be dissapointed.
