Life member, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 101.

It probably won't be a happy day, per se, for many veterans, but a good day to reflect and enjoy the respect and gratitude of most Americans.

To all who truly sacrificed...

bigtrucks,

Did you hear that Chesty is on a Postage Stamp? It was my understanding they had an unveiling there at Camp Pen.

Lt. Gen. Lewis B. Puller and three other Marines Gunnery Sgt. John Basilone, Sgt. Maj. Daniel J. Daly and Lt. Gen. John A. Lejeune are on a set of four 37-cent stamps is being unveiled Thursday in ceremonies at the Marine Corps Barracks in Washington and Camp Pendleton, Calif. The stamps go on sale nationwide the same day.

Here's an article I found:

Marines Honored on Postage Stamp

Thanks for a job well done guys. I just might limp out and take a spin in the army jeep to remember the fallen.

Brew,

First, thanks for kicking off a good thread. Second, do you care to say what branch? Six years sometimes means a particular branch and a particular career field. I did six too...

Wow, seems like bad-a$$ bombers and serious tank killers are worlds apart, weapons systems-wise, but what do I know about it?

I was Navy but Ground Mobile Forces, mostly satellite communications stuff, hopped rides with the AF everywhere we needed to go...

Basically a gun is a gun is a gun...A rocket launcher is a rocket launcher ( not exactly, but you know what I mean) Once a weapons guy, you can cross over to any other plane and weapon system. I had a great time working on both planes. Plus, switching to the A-10 got me three years in Europe

Oh, wasnt it great to just hop on an AF plane and fly to wherever you needed to go!
