Well, I think I have heard everything now. The state of Washington thinks they need to put a latte stand in the prison for the inmates.
They are prisoners, who are supposed to be punished.

Ah, Ken Schram, Seattle's warty Andy Roony wannabee. Ken is the master of taking things out of context and capitalizing on any hint of impropriety - especially if it's the government doing it. Believe about 10% of what comes out of his mouth.

I'd bet a fair sum of money that the latte stand in question would be accessible only to civilian employees and staffed by low-risk offenders needing job training. If the stand is available to the prisoners, then I'm reluctantly in agreement with Ken.

They may treat prisoners too well here in WA, but they don't treat them THAT well.

By the way, McNeil is one of the old facilities built by the feds - think Alcatraz on a bigger island with lots of trees. It was later transferred to the state and houses a lot of nasty folks, including habitual sex offenders who are held after their sentences expire because they stand too great a threat the the general population to set free.
