Fate
Fate or random chance or events by choice? The preditermined chain of events, i don't think so.
One thing I have learned throughout my life is that with hard work and diligence most goals can be acheaved. That indicates a series of events that happens by choice.
On the other hand it seems that some goals take an incredible amounts of time and excessive amounts of energy and work. And adding to the delays other things have happened that only helped the original idea.
To me that indicates fate.
Either way those who complain about the unfairness of life or accept every thing with the comment that ***** happens are morons and deserve to be
trod upon.

Wow...well said. I believe that we are given choices in life. Kind of like a fork in the road. Do you turn left or do you turn right? Sometimes, in retrospect, you may say to yourself that you should have turned a different way than what you turned. Yyour life would have been totally different if you went the other way. That's where I feel FATE comes in. You made that choice for a reason and you are where you should be for a reason. What that reason is, we may never know.
I think Fate and Choice pretty much go hand in hand. Fate would not befall you unless a choice you made put you on coarse with that fate.
Fate is an event that happens in our lives that no one, except God Almighty, has any control over. Fate would be a tornado destroying your house. Yes, you may have chosen to live in a tornado prone area, but why your house while the neighbors are still standing. . .fate.
Choices are what we all as individuals have some control over. With some you have more control than others. . .Maybe you live in a tornado prone area because that's where the job is, you had the choice to accept that job or not. If it was accept the job or starve your choice left you little control but it was still, by definition, a choice. Your choice put you on coarse with fate and you lost your house. If, however, you rebuild your house again and again only to be destroyed by tornadoes again and again; well, then you're extremely unlucky and should make better choices!
Did that make sense?? Maybe I'm just rambling, I tend to do that at times!

Rambling Rose.
Sure i agree some decisions can lead you into a area of "fate" but some events are ongoing. Tease a dog and getting bit is not fate but a poor decision with foreseeable consequences.
He was fated to loose every thing in that wind storm. I would not consider this fate but one of many random events that everyone is suspectable to. Fate would be that he would loose every thing no matter where we lived on a certian day, wither a wind storm in the interior, a flood on the coast, a volcano in Hawaii.
The concept of fate has been deeply inbedded into our collective physic, and
that we readly accept it. It is in all cultures. In many primative cultures it is used to explain what is mystifying to them.

I believe that a strong person makes their own fate in today's world. I don't like the idea that I'm not in control of my own life. When obstacles are placed in your way, there's only two things to do, knuckle up and git-r-dun or cave in. I'm not a fan of the latter.
Hard work and determination are major components of success but fate obviously plays a roll too; like it or not

This question has been asked by scholars "and everybody else" for many many centuries. The true answer has yet to be determined. There is no way to test either one to see which is correct.
That being said, my opinion is that life is road trip.
In life there are the ones who are there simply for the ride. They tend to be an added weight to the growth of society. But often play a critical role to keep the drivers awake. They rely on the drivers to take them were ever they may end up.
Then you have the drivers. They have a place they want to be and will take some riders along if they can be of benifit to the succees of the journey.
Then you have the hitch hikers that mooch off both the drivers and the riders. They offer little to no assistance to the journey.

I think it's kinda like religion, all a matter of faith...
If you believe strongly enough, you can make anything seem like fate...
Not to make light of religion in general, but I think some take it too far...
If you believe something and want something bad enough it will be on your mind, and you will work hard for it, so you "make" fate come true so to speak.
and if it doesn't, well then it was just fate!
