Programmable Furnace Themostats

I was thinking of installing one for my force hot air gas fired furnace. I would need the 7 day programmable one.

I would appreciate any reviews and comments anyone may have. What brand does everyone suggest I purchase?

I've got a Hunter 5+2 model that's pretty nice, gets the job done. From what I observed playing with them, to the average consumer (me) the Hunter and Honeywell ones seemed about the same but the bargain priced one was pretty crappy.

5+2 isnt really a 7 day prog its a 5 day with only 2 programs on sat-sun
a 7 day prog stat is 4 programs a day for 7 days .

if you can find a robertshaw 9610 it is a 7day i sell to contractors for 34.00 and is the most user friendly stat around

They are really just an alarm clock without the bell.
Look over the directions, if you can understand it buy it.
I have a Honeywell. My only complaint is the display is not bright enough.
When I have to play with it, I use a flashlight to read it.

When my wife sees me there with the flashlight she says, "Raoul, why don't you just pay the damn electirc bill!"

Here is the one I have: http://www.acehardware.com/product/i...ductId=2126060

It is touchsreen, very easy to use, and backlit display.

Home Depot cheap a$$ programmable thermostat bad link, don't bother

This is the one that I recently put in my house. I should know better than to buy the cheap one but I was intrigued by the cool display and touch screen. I'm also a cheap b@stard.

In the two weeks since I installed it, it works fine. It's only fifty bucks.

We've had a Honeywell programmable for about 5 years. I love it. The 7 day progrmmable is definitely worth the $$ over a 5+2.

I got a cheap a$$ one from HD/Lowes/whereever... was less that $50, had it for over a year. Works fine. Wish I had a wireless connection to my PC so I don't have to get outta my chair to program it...

Thumbs up

I paid bout $65 bucks for mine bout 3 yrs ago and it is not a 7 day. I would go with the 7 day program type. They work better especially if you have to work on week ends. The 5 day stats have one program for the week days and separate programs for sat and sun. If you are off like mon and tues then you will have to manually override the program to get the desired comfort level.
