Who else can't stand cRAP and Hip Hop?

After reading that Metallica thread I realized how sick society has become since the fall of great bands like Metallica. I was just wondering how many people here have F-150's or should I say "one fitty on dubs" that drive around blasting MIke Jones and hot boxing a banana blount? Irritaing city blocks with obnoxious speakers and poor dress codes, only to stop and "let 'em spin". I know there are a lot of young guys in here. Is the entire younger generation consumed with this music and lifestyle or are there still a few normal people left. I have a 20 year old step-brother that listens to nothing but crap and hip hop. He is also about as dumb as a box of rocks, I am beginning to think those two qualities come hand in hand. And the dumb kid across the street from me is always yelling "Who MIke JONes?".

Don't ge me wrong, I even like a song or two from time to time but I have no respect for these crap artists that put out 6 albums a year with the wrong message in every song. I was more tolerant of crap when it sung of life on the street, the new stuff seems to celebrate life on the street or justify being a low-life.

I guess I can look forward to the death of this stuff, just like Disco, all bad stuff gets old quick. This seems to be taking a bit longer. I am ready for some Puerto Rican techno booty music or something else to take over for a while.

Otherwise, I may just have to get some gold teeth, some cornrows, go buy a beat up Caprice, twist up a fatty, and go steal some spinners.

Im 17, goin on 18, to be honest, I mostly listen to country. Not the older stuff, more of the modern stuff like, from garth brooks-george straight to present. I also listen to other stuff like rock etc, but rarely listen to rap. I know exactly what you're talking about, I see it all the time here.

Ha, as a matter of fact I have a funny story that happened yesterday. I was at the tire place getiing a nail pulled out of my mom's truck. There was a guy in there, with an old run down buick. Of course he had the rims(worth more than the car), and the million sub woofers in the back(worth more than the rims that are worth more than the car). He had problems with his rear end on his car. They told him how much it would be to fix it, he got in and drove off. So he can spend all that $$$ on rims and speakers, but can't keep his car running right...sheesh.

Anyways, there are a few of us "younger" guys who still wear our pants at our waist, rather than out knees.

~..Josh.

I simply do not associate with that segment of society. None of them have anything I want. I don't hang out in their neighborhoods, I don't watch their tv programs and I don't listen to their radio stations.
One guy over on a tree climbing forum has for his signature:

"Pull your pants up, turn your hat around, you look like an idiot."

I used to listen to a lot of Rap when I was in my high school and early college years back in the early to mid 90's. That was back when it was somewhat cutting edge and original. Not that the mesage was any better. I didn't get caught up in the whole poser lifestyle though. It had an influence on me at the time, but only in how I joked around with friends and the size of subwoofers in the trunk (15's).

The stuff today is boring at best. The only artist out there IMO that has any real "artistry" with the presentation of the music is Missy Elliot. Everything else is either Pop Rap or rehash stuff. I'll take Garth Brooks over 50cent any day unless I'm really in the mood for some bump.

Wait..... you guys are saying Garth Brooks and that crap is real 'artistry'?! BWWWAAAHHHHH HAH HA HA!!! Thats classic. I will listen to anything regularly with the exception of classical and country. Rock, soft rock, hip-hop, rap ('da hard core shiznit, ya dig?), alternative, whatever. Now, I truely believe that out of each category, about 95% of it is total crap. Yup, 95% of the rock I hear, crap... same goes for hip-hop and anything else. Hell, I do like a few country songs, but I just can't stand the other 99.9% of crap. It breaks down to personal tastes. If you actually listen to more music you'll realize that it all sucks, not just hip-hop. The music industry's desire to stay fresh and keep pumping in new young talent has ruined everything.

In my day, we didn't have your fancy synthesizers and modern techno-babble stirring up populace, leading them to quiver in unholy gyrations.

We had a lone crooner, standing in front of a large microphone, neatly attired, with a lot of lard in his hair, backed up by a simple 64 piece orchestra.

AND THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS AND THAT'S THE WAY WE LIKED IT!

While I agree that hip-hop or rap or whatever it's called is awful I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I read this:

which just goes to show how it's all a matter of perspective . . .

I'd personally move that timeline back some and put Metallica, and their ilk in the catagory of crap music that is partially responsible for the downfall of society.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm headed to the airport to jet out to VA and meet up with Raoul . . . w're takin the wives out to the Tony Bennett concert. (And when I'm driving around with Raoul, the wives sit in the back of the Buick and us menfolk sit in the front).

The fall of great bands like Metallica? Who's next on the pedestal? INXS, Nine Inch Nails, Guns & Roses? Bwhahahaha...

The reason they probably fell is for the same reason many rap groups annoy you today. HEAVY DRUG USAGE
---------------------------------------

Yes, I have an F-150 on dubs, I also have an Expedition on dubs... And, guess what- even the old white guys here in Plano, are rolling Expeditions, Navigators, Escalades, Tahoe's, Yukons and even Sequioa's, on dubs... Some even on 22's & 24's. The dealerships are putting them on the lots on 20's & 22's. A huge change from when I moved up here in 1997, and my car was the only ride in town on 16" rims... Now, everybody is 'blinging". I guess MTV, BET, VH1 and I influenced both the young and the older populace of Plano & North Dallas.
-----------------------------------------

I listen to rap, but not exclusively. I'm more of an R&B type guy, but if it's got a nice beat, I'm listening to it. I love bass, and will, for the first time, at age 36- finally put some serious "bump in my trunk" once my custom box is completed and installed.

I mean, if you've heard 50-Cent's (Get in my car, Disco Inferno, In Da Club, A Lil' Bit) and your foot didn't start tapping, then this is truly becoming a Rythm-less Nation.

yep, and avoid all the current Nashvegas crap. Old country and New Americana.

Willie Nelson
Waylon Jennings
Delbert McClinton
James McMurtry
Slaid Cleaves
Ray Wylie Hubbard
Lyle Lovett
Robert Earl Keene
Dwight Yoakum
Ray Charles
Lucinda Williams
Allison Moorer
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Then for a change, you can throw in some 50s and 60s rock and blues

The ONLY music left that has any real talent behind it is Hard Rock/Metal. You may or may not agree with this but... Any cretinous yahoo can program a computer or synth to play the music for them and belt out some b$tch slapping lyrics about "life in da hood" (Yeah right, you made $20000000000 on that album Mr. Cent, you don't live in "DA HOOD"). Country is the same, a bunch of production work so one retard gets all the credit and he/she didn't even write the music (ala Elvis Presely, he never wrote his own music). Pop music??? It's makes me want to vomit...

Now listen to ANY Metal album and listen to the guitar work & drum work. Listen to Metallica - One for and example. Tell me that doesn't take an as$-load of talent to play an instrument like that. Currently Metallica blows goats but alas, they did have some good years behind them. There are numerous bands out there today that can put out some seriously extreme music that unless you watch HeadBanger's Ball you'll never hear about them. It's a shame really. I simply WILL NOT BELIEVE FOR ONE MINUTE that society wants to hear the same 10 songs hour after hour, day after day, for a month until the next piece-o-crap du jour comes out. It's all about the money. Some of these rock/metal bands know they will never sell albums like Britney Spears and such but they put out the music anyway. Look at Black Label Society. They've put out an album a year for seven years and you've probably never heard them on the radio. BLS is good ald fashioned as$-kicking hard rock. Take a listen...

KC-10 FE out...

BTW Australia KICKS AS$!!
