You could try searches at rangerpowersports.com or therangerstation.com, maybe that will help. R81

on a 3.0????

Straight pipes or glasspacks

Will still sound like a fart.
Just a louder fart than the ricers. IMHO

If your going to do anything to it drop a 5.4L in it for him.

That is a GREAT looking truck.

There's gotta be a Magnaflow or Flowmaster that would work, even if it wasn't as loud. How did they say the 50 series would sound in that truck? Do they even make it for the Ranger?

Anything louder than stock is going to sound a little ricey. The best sound I have found for a V6 is a Flowmaster with a 2-1/2" tailpipe. The key to keeping away from too much rice grinder sound is to have a tailpipe. If you notice, all those stupid little cars don't have a tailpipe. It is just a big, wide open muffler with a large opening hanging out from under the back bumper.

PhotG makes a good point, whatever you get mount it as close to the engine as possible. Lower tone and less cackle.

150K miles on my Ranger, the stock exhaust is still in excellent shape. Just why exactly would someone swap it out on a new Ranger? To make more noise?

I don't know if this would apply to the Ranger like it does to the F150 but an F150 V6 with Magnaflow or Flowmaster exhaust DOES sound ricey. HOWEVER....

That rice is QUICKLY taken care of if you change out the intake to an airaid, AF1, or MAC. Sounds like an entirely different truck with that throatier sound.

I know for a FACT that they sell those because I know someone who put one on theirs.

Yep, more sound...once a motorhead, always a motorhead as they say.
I also posted this question on a Ranger website, sounds like the flowmaster may be the way to go, just have to make sure i get it installed as far back as possible which will leave a good length of tail pipe out the back as Photog95 mentioned.

i've owned four rangers, one with the 3.0. i put a 2-1/2 inch cat back exhaust with a flowmaster muffler, and it sounded great. that's what i would do!

I have to agree with Smeezy. I have had 2 Rangers with 3.0 in them and put Flowmasters on both of them. They sound great. On the first one I have a si/so with a y pipe. On the second one I had a si/do.

Used to have a 91 4.0 and had a magnaflow on it, sounded good! Didn't have the cat back, just went to a good muffler sho[ in Denver and they threw on a magnaflow and a tail pipe on it, Think it cost $225

I had the Gibson Dual Sport on my '01. Wasn't real loud, also had the 4.0. I liked it.
