Mrbbqman

You were on my mind after Katrina. How did you make out? I recall your business was in New Orleans. I saw you had posted Covington as home on the member map thread. Did those beautiful black vehicles escape unscathed?

When Isabel came thru here a couple of years ago we lost power for two weeks and I had two dozen trees down on my lot.

One hit my house and did over $5,000 worth of improvement.

Glad to see you're still alive (literally).

just saw this post, i've been without internet for a while. had to evacuate the family for a few weeks, and like you Raoul, had a huge oak tree on the house, and a few dozen down on the lot. i will be cleaning up for a long, long time. fortunately, i have something to clean up, as many here don't. the vehicles and the business (building) are ok, but most of my customers lost their work crews for a while, but it seems to be getting busy as of late. living on the gulf coast, you have to respect hurricanes and their power. these last two have taken it to a different level, or something. thanks to all for thinking of me!

Overall that sounds like good news on a bad situation. Took me eight months to clear my lot, running two chainsaws and swapping chains at the lawncare shop.

I gave away three cord of wood and kept two for myself.

The tree service people were gouging here after the storm.
$3,000 to lift tree off house, lay it in yard and drive away.
I figured the money was better spent on a new chainsaw, 75 foot of chain and a winch.
(and some sneakers so I could run fast)
The neighbors knew when they heard me screaming that I was about done with another tree.

Glad you came out with something to salvage. As you said, some didn't.
