Do you guys realize that in order for a vaccine to be effective, you have to take it before hand to develope the required immunity? Some vaccines require several dosages over a few months to be truely effective. All the vaccine in the world isn't going to help much if a major outbreak hits before it's distributed and used. Vaccines are not cures, they are preventative measures.

Our national ability to deal with things of this nature is pitiful Look at the Flu vaccine shortage last year... What a cluster f*ck that was. It scares me that we don't even produce our own flu vaccine in this country.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but if you want to know what the absolute baddest mother f*cker of an organism on this planet is, it's hands down the virus.

That ain't no lie... There's some scary sh*t out there...
Scientists hope that viruses like Ebola, Hanta, Lassa, Variola (Small pox), and to a lesser extent- KHF, don't become transmittable like the flu...

I've even heard (And I don't know how true this is) that some scientists believe cancer is caused not only by carcinogenic agents (radiation, asbestos, whatever is in cigarettes, etc..) but- possibly by a virus...

He's been on my fecal roster for a while now and for a number of reasons. The reason for each seems to be power. He has wrestled, cajoled, and usurped more power from the people of the citizens of the United States of America than any other president that I can think of. He 'leads' through fear and has signed into law more unconstitutional chit that I ever thought possible.

As for using the military for confining an outbreak of avian flu to city X? Well sometimes you have to make hard decisions as the CINC. If I were stuck inside a confinement area I just might die in a shoot out with the troops because I see no point in sitting around waiting to get infected and die. OTOH it's a darn fine idea to have enough supplies on hand to be able to bug in at home for a week or two without having to depend on outside sources.

So at lunch I am driving around and start thinking about this thread.

Honestly, I feel the Asian Bird Flu Pandemic (ABFP from here on out) is more hype. But, what if the hype isn't because of the pandemic itself rather than what would happen in the event there is a very small pandemic and terrorists determine this to be a week point in time and decide an all out assault.

I actually was really surprised and kind of assured there are few if any organized terrorists in the US after the hurricanes. They would have had a catastrophic effect if they had completed a full-scale attack. With that said perhaps they have recognized that and are waiting for the next big thing to happen to the US.

So the pandemic outbreaks, and local, state, and federal forces are depleted due to the sickness. It would seem to be another big opportunity. This is why I feel the government is taking no chances and getting the word out that this will be covered.

Just some thoughts, kind of rambling. I need to be writing my book right now rather than being on here.
