I can appreciate the kill but the method is borderline at best.
I was just being funny.
But I did drop a broad head one time, Like a dummy I tried to catch it, it hit my hand and cut my palm to the bone. Right at the base of my thumb in my palm porbably 1/2" of meat there. It dropped maybe 1/2 a foot to a foot tops. So it had all the speed of gravity. So I'm guessing that if it was in the air, even if it was falling from the arch, it didn't hit a rib. Then yea I can see a kill shot.
I ussually don't question hunting stories that include a bag. Now that it has been questioned, we do need pics!

Inbred:

those are some pretty small bucks....look similar to those dogs that live down in Arkansas....I must say, these corn-bred bucks we have out here near the river are INSANE in size:

Some pics of IL whitetail

I just got my gun tag in the mail yesterday....I am still looking to go pick up my archery tag this week (season opened this past weekend)...then I will be heading up to WI this thanksgiving for rifle season...

Personally, I am more excited about bird season opening up

Agreed. Not a one of them is a shooter for me at this point. We've got our share of giants running around here. we chased one around for three years, until he finally got shot last year by someone 1 mile down the road from our land. He was a massive 14 point. We've been working our little plot for about 6-7 years now. Used to be deer wouldn't even go into it. Weve got the habitat setup, now we just need to weed out some bad genes and let the good ones grow. example of bad genes--last year I shot a tiny racked 6 point (4x2) that dressed out at 176#. A deer that large should not have a rack that puny. That monster that was running around fathered a lot of deer the last two years; the crop of button bucks and other young bucks should look pretty darn good in a couple more years.

Sounds like you got a nice little management program going on there Inbred. I am of the mentality "if it's brown...it's down"....so I will shoot anything that looks big enough to fill my freezer for a few months.

I shot a similar buck two years ago...it dressed out around 165lbs and had a whopping 4 points....this think looked like it got picked on ALOT....the entire rack looked like it was nawed on by rodents before it was even shed from his head.... I am glad that I got to weed this poor b@stard from our hunting plot as well....

problem is I need to keep my buddy and his dad from shooting all the doe. I'm the first one to say that too many doe are bad for the herd, but you need a couple for pete's sake. I see more bucks than doe anymore. PA's recent antler restrictions have a lot to do with that though as well.

It's nice to see some non trophy hunters!

Don't get me wrong if the infamous "Turty-Point Buck" crosses my path then he is going down like a $2 ***** for a $20 bill!
I'd like to have a full body mount of an albino too so would have to empty the clip on one of those too. I'd imagine either would be like the first time that I took one down. I'd be shaking so bad it would take the entire clip to hit once.

But if there is a 6-8 point buck and a young spike standing side by side then I'll choose the spike. "IMO they taste better" I hunt on a farm tag so if I kill a buck first then I can hunt for a doe. If I kill a doe first then I am done unless I go pay for a buck tag. But.. the last two years the harvest has been low and the herds are growing to the point that disease is starting to become a problem. So we have already been granted a bonus antlerless season in Dec. 10th-18th. If enough is not taken at that time then we have been getting a bonus season at the end of december first of Januarary too.
Last year I went on a benefit bonus/bonus hunt in late Jan coordinated by the MDOC. Where we hunt in designated areas and anything that is bagged is donated to needy familes in the area. We have that option to donate all season too. They call it crop share or something like that.

I work at a deer prosessing plant we do about 5000 deer in a season last year i remember doing one that had the arrow still in it the guy said he shot it it died and when he went to pull the arrow out it was stuck later we found that the arrow went between the ribs but did cut the bone about 1/4 the way through but i dont know if a direct hit would go through i would think that if you were close enough and had your drawl weight up it might
