Muhahaha

Going to winterize it tomarrow. Also going to call around and see if I can find someone to rebuild the starter. I may start on pulling the engine tomarrow and see if I can tighten the Gimbal too. Atleast I am experinced now and know that the hardest part is the exhaust boots.

I must say, I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with the D50. I got it yesterday afternoon and messed with it a little after I got home from the dentist ripping a tooth out of my head (literally) I didnt read the book on how to use this thing, nor did I try to figure anything out yet. I just snapped on the lenses, set it to autofocus and went out and snapped a few pictures. Im sure they are not "perfect" but man, this thing is awesome and takes great pictures. Once again...thanks to all for your help. I may be calling on you guys soon to give me some pointers on taking better pictures.

wstahlm80...hows yours? did you take any pictures yet??

Heres a few I just took, and remember, I have no idea how this thing works yet.

I've been out of this thread for a while, but since I started it I figured I'd jump back in with an update...

I tested out my 28-80 Nikkor AF lens from my N65 with my neighbor's D70S and was very happy with the results. I ordered the D50 body from Amazon.com (had a gift certificate), along with a 1GB SanDisk Ultra II SD card. Both should be here in time for SEMA...

Thanks for the help, everyone!

Those are some nice shot for not having any idea how it works. Just remember that auto focus is not perfect. Sometimes it can focus on something that you don't want and you think that because the camera tells you it is focused it may not be ecactly what you wanted. This will happen the most when working with macro photography because you are working with a very shallow DOF. Also try to keep your subject just off the center of your frame.

Speaking of sunsets here is one for ya

This taken on a film camera so it may not fit in with all the digital talk.

Inbred,
What kind of steel work do you do? I do custom fabrications of structural steel. We mostly do banks, clleges, museums, just finished a $30 million middle school. That one made the tax payers real happy.

I try not to make money off the photography. I fear it will star feeling like a job and take the enjoyment out of it. I have won a couple of awards, been published in the local newspaper a few times, done a handfull of weddings and a few senior portraits but that is about it. I try to keep it for ME.

Well, I'm not a DSLR owner, but I did drop nearly 1k for my Minolta dImage7i when it first came out years ago... ahhhh the wonders of technology! Anywho, some of my favorites from a vacation years ago in the smokies: (pic are small and compressed with lots of extra noise, but you get the idea)

I should dig up the originals... so sweet for 'old' technology!

You and me both!

Hey....for your reading pleasure....when I was doing some research on which camera to purchase...I stumbled upon this following site:

Ken Rockwell

He does independent reviews and has ALOT of useful tutorials on different photography skills....so you might want to check it out.

He does have a review of the Nikon D50 there as well.

Enjoy the camera...if you are like me...it is very exciting to have a better camera at your disposal....

That's a helluva shot!!!

I've been wanting to catch a good lighting shot for a long time. But I have failed at every attempt thus far.

NON SLR here too.
Here are some dusk shots from the very first day I bought the camera. I got it used so it didn't have an instruction manual. I had played with it and was online searching for an online manual that I could print. When I looked out the living room window and seen the entire atmosphere had a red tint. I grabbed the camera, a tripod, and ran out the door. I managed to snap about 22 pics total before it went away. I wish that I would have know how to better operate the camera when this all happened...

PS I am hosting them on my gallery, since f150 compresses them. Then you won't have to worry about download time. LOL
