Sonicare Toothbrushes

Anyone use these things? I have heard from a few people that they LOVE them... my limited experience with 'electric toothbrushes' makes me nervous about spending nearly $100 on a toothbrush but, I'd spend it if it was worth it...

Thoughts?

I've never used one, but have heard they are good. Like you, im not sure I want to spend $100 on a tooth brush. But my Gillette M3 Power razor is awesome.

I guess this would be the dual action polisher of tooth brushes?

High-Speed Brushing
Thanks to a built-in microprocessor, the Sonicare bristle tips move 3 times faster than other leading power toothbrushes - that's 100 times faster than you can brush manually. And these brush strokes aren't just high-speed - they also work in the dentist recommended back-and-forth motion.

Scrap all of your toothbrushes and move to Colorado Springs (see thread about root canal)...

I can't speak for the Sonicare toothbrushes, but you can get a basic Oral B for less than half of that and the Oral B DOES make a difference over reguar brushing and flossing.

ANother gadget to look at is te Oral B "Hummingbird". This is a power flosser. It replaces a power flosser they had a few years ago that really worked, but died due to low interest.

A power flosser is to manual floss what a power toothbrush is to a manual.

I find they actually remove more plaque than manual tools do.

Your moth stays cleaner, longer.

Just do what I do... swish some JD around and head off to work. Does equally well at night before bed. And at lunch. And before every meal. And after.

RP, my wife has one. The orthodontist recommended it after her braces were removed a couple years ago. She loves it and uses it twice a day. Money well spent!

I've been considering buying one for myself.

My Mom works for a dentist and she got one for free. She didn't like it so she said that I could have it (obviously you can buy new heads for it). I went to the store to buy the new heads and plugged it up. It is pretty cool, but I am pretty sure that you can do just as good with a regular toothbrush. I hardly ever use it anymore, I just use my regular Oral-B.

My rating would be, okay, but not outstanding.

So you were asking about it for your teeth, the whole time I read this I was wondering if you had figured out some way to detail with this thing!

I use a similar one produced by Braun and Oral B. They really are nothing spectacular and they cost a small fortune to replace the heads.

Our family uses the Basic Oral-b power brushes. They do a much better job IMO. In 30 seconds or so you can get as much brushing as 5 minutes of regular brushing. Maybe that's why some people say they see no difference, because they are brushing for a longer period. I suppose you can only get your teeth a certain amount of clean. I on the other hand can't stand hanging out over the bathroom sink for more than a couple minutes.

Personally it feels almost as good as having a cleaning done at the dentist. And BTW, the oral B brushes range from $15-$100 or so. You can get the best deals on brushes and head replacements at SAMS Club. Unless you find it on sale somewhere.
