Fires In Lost Angeles
Fires In Lost Angeles
Fires in Lost Angeles . . .
So I was in Burbank this afternoon. We are having fires in the Chatsworth / Simi Valley area, and other fires on the Los Angeles / Ventura County border in the Thousand Oaks area. So far, about 18,000 acres have burned and it's only 5% contained.
The Thousand Oaks area fire has moved toward Calabasas and the San Fernando Valley.
On my drive home (around 4:00) I took the Ventura Fwy (101) to Las Virgenes / Malibu Canyon Road. The fire has made it's way to this canyon.
Here's some shots I took while driving:
While in the San Fernando Valley (around Encino) headed West. The plume of smoke is just a very, very small part of the fire that's around the Malibu Cyn. off-ramp, which is about 13 miles away from where this picture was taken)
Continued . . .

On the freeway heading down into Las Virgenes / Malibu Canyon. Some flames had reached the bottom of the off-ramp.
After having exited the freeway and looking back toward the off-ramp where the flames have reached.
Stopped at a park in Calabasas, about a mile further down the road looking back toward the flames.
(The picture is two pix stitched together which is why it looks like that.)
At that time, Las Virgenes / Malibu Cyn. was still a voluntary evacuation zone. The canyons further west were mandatory as are the areas around Westlake, T.O. and such.
Luckily the winds are not bad so hopefully they will have this contained in a day or so . . . probably never get anywhere near me . . . (famous last words).
Here's the story that I found linked from Drudge Report.

Thanks . . .
(Interesting, when I first read your name I saw "Lonewolf". Not only can I not type today, I can't read either.)
The fire isn't really a concern (for me at least). That's a good 11 miles from me.
It could rip thru the canyon (has happened before many times . . . it's a way of life around here) but the high winds that fan these things died this morning.
October is fire month. Hot, dry, and really windy (the winds are known as Santa Ana Winds . . . and they can hit 60mph speeds with no problem). If a fire starts, those winds can spread it over a wide area in no time flat. Fortunately, no winds to speak of today.
Thanks . . .

Nice pics but all you guys out there need to move somewhere safer. Between hurricans, fires, earthquakes and whatever else i think i'll just stay right here and be safe.

Great pics kobi! i was watching the news tonight and saw a bunch of pictures of the fires. Some of them were getting real close to multi million dollar homes, scary!! keep safe kobi, and make sure you put your presidential airplane in a hangar that is far away from the fires, we dont need anymore mixups/false tragedies involving the presidential candidate/ former presidential candidate's plane!

As for the 777 . . . no candidacy = no plane.
The only thing that remains is the presidential coffee mug:
I could sell t-shirts I guess . . . "I ran for President and all I got was this crummy coffee-mug!"

Jim, you know he's going to put Godzilla in there melting all that snow with his killer breath or something!! You better start packing, time to evacuate, run like those little Japanese dudes in the movies, looking back over your shoulder and screaming gobble-de-gook!!
