Does the radar detector just not come on?

Or can you not read 12v with a volt meter on it?

I can't get it in far enough for it to get power and come on.

Did you get the right size fuse tap.
Our trucks have the mini fuses and it takes a mini tap.

I havent bought a V1 so don't know wha tthey come with.

There are 2 sizes of fuses. Standard ATO Blade and Mini ATO Blade. The mini blade obviously is smaller but it also has a point. Where the standard blade is square. You can use a Mini fuse tap on a standard fuse, but you can not use a standard fuse tap on a mini fuse. Might stop in at Radio Shack or other electronic parts store and look at the two taps. It will be obvious once you see them side by side which one you have. If you dont have the mini then buy a small package of them and that will get you power.

Also make sure that you are getting a good ground. Might move the ground wire some where else. I have grounded to bolts that should have been a good ground before but they just weren't for some reason.

Thanks!

You can look in my gallery to see how mine looks installed. I bought a hardwire cigarete lighter socket that I have tucked behind the radio. The ground is to the 12volt accessory on the dash, while the power is to teh switched power for the radio. Works out pretty good, easy install..
