USB Joystick for PC - Question
USB Joystick for PC - Question
I got rid of my Xbox because I don't use it much and with a baby in the house, I didn't want him growing up wanting to play it all the time. Anyway, I'd like to find a USB joystick for my PC similar to the Xbox game controller. I loved the feel and layout of the Xbox controller. Anyone know of a USB joystick/controller out there that's most similar to the Xbox controller?...for use with PC running Windows XP.
Thanks
Thanks

edit: I guess I should add that a lot of pc games are designed around use with a keyboard and mouse. Unless you're playing sim games. If you're playing FPS's then you almost HAVE to use a keyboard and mouse to be any good at em.

Right. I was thinking more of games that are available on Xbox, PS 2 AND PC. For example, Doom 3. That would be so much easier to play with a joystick on PC. I played it on the Xbox. I've played other games using the keyboard and it drives me nuts. I'm much better with a controller/joystick.

Well, I'm telling you right now, if you learn how to use a keyboard and mouse you'll never go back, especially with doom 3. The main advantage is how you can look and manuver with a mouse compared to a gamepad. A gamepad has, what, 8 Axi? A mouse has, in theory, and unlimited amount of axi. You can pull to a target and fire just like a real weapon with a real time reaction. Anyway, a gamepad will work and I've seen it used and used them myself. If you're just looking to have fun you'll do ok, but if you want to be somewhat competetive in online play, you'll need to learn to use the keyboard and mouse combo. Again, this is for FPS (i.e. DoomIII) games. Other games like RPG, strategy, and flight sims can benefit (not always) from a seperate controller.
My question is why bother getting an "Xbox like" controller then loading X-box like games, just to avoid an Xbox. Just control access to the Xbox and you won't have the problem. I have two kids...I didn't get rid of HBO or my gamecube or my Internet access. I control the access to it and limit its usage.
That said...I have yet to find a controller as good as a console's version. The games on a PC just aren't built with great controller support.
Of course you could just get an Add-in card for you PC that has video-in on it. Hook your Xbox up to the video and stash the system. It looks like you are on the computer.
