Yea the winter does make a big difference... Last year I only used 1 1/2 - 2 cord and kept the house 80* or more all winter. BUT.... we only dropped below zero maybe, 5 days total. But the temperature of the house will never drop below 60* no matter how cold it gets and for how long. It stays the same temperature as the earth. So it never takes to much to heat or cool.

PSS i'm just messing with you tonight I have an uncle 6 miles from me and his home built underground and he does save on heating bills but it takes forever to warm the place up in the spring. He uses heat well into june.

I ussually quit burning sometime in mid March. By late May I'm already turning on the AC. Although... I think I'd rather burn the wood if I could, it's cheaper than buying the electricity for the AC.
