Angry The incident this weekend

Well while completing my new shed this weekend and just completing a shop work table i was using my framing nailer to complete the task. I attempted to fasten so to speak a 16 common 3.5" nail into the 2x6 and it happened,,, The nail hit a knot in the wood and came right back out and into my left hand ALL 3.5" OF IT . I simply could not believe it happened after shooting thousands of nails into building the shed without incident it did indeed happen. My wife was standing there and seen the whole thing happen and became sick as all hell when i pulled my arm from behind my back hoping it just bounced off or may have just barely broke the skin. Nope no such luck my friend who was helping me was white as a sheet when he seen it and when i asked him to pull it out he almost got sick on the spot. Well after a moment he agreed and began pulling and now with the wire that holds the nails in line it became a pulling match in which the nail won by far and a trip to the hospital was in order. Well 20 minutes later we pulled in to the e-room and even the seasoned doctors and nurses were stunned to see just a nail head sticking out. Well 4 hours later they removed it from between my thumb and pointy finger it went through the muscle between and settled into the bone in my wrist. Now the good part they used a pair of pliers from the maint. guys tool belt to remove it??. I did get a new girl friend after all was said and done and her name is Lori tab she was a 10. Lori made me feel real good and now as i heal she may be with me for only a short time but its a fling i shall not forget real soon. Nail guns=

Sorry to hear about the accident. Sometimes we tend to ignore how powerful some of the machines are that help us do our work. Hate that you have to be the one to post a reminder.

so I'm assuming it took you about half an hour to type this up?

Ouch dude. Painkillers are my friends as well.

Word of advice on the hydrocodone--probably the last thing on your mind, but start taking laxitives/stool softeners NOW. The effect won't be as bad as if you were taking oxycodone, but in a few days, you'll know why I suggested this... :o

MMM to late i already figured it out I will take something in the am after work to 'relieve the pressing issue at hand so to speak. It was a Stanley Bostitch framing nailer...

I'm doing great Jim, thanks for asking, and I love the sticks!! It's so peaceful here. I keep forgetting to get out the digital camera and snap a few pictures for y'all. I started a thread "WMR is back online." Check it out, I'll get some pics in there in the next day or two.

Dude, get well, and your new fling is a real comfort for the heart .

When I was in college we had a small roofing business (Never will I set foot on another roof in my life (at least to shingle it), so help me god).

So one day I'm in getting supplies and this guy comes in and throws this Bostich roofing nailer on the counter. Obviously, irritated by somethings the whole little lumber place takes notice. It seems the safety went out and shot not one, but three nails in his arm. Now, I can imagine a 16 penny nail is bad but you will notice the 16 penny nails are have just a small wire holding them together. Due to the size of the roffing nail head they have a huge wire connecting them together. Well, it seems when you try and pull the first nail out that wire acts like a locking mechanism in flesh and really sets the nail in place to prevent any further plier pulling. OOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUCCHCHCHCHHC.

This dude basically had to have major surgery to get these three nails out.

Moral of this long winded story, it can always be worse!

That's gonna leave a mark.

I've been "shot" with a nail gun before. Sorda like what happened to you. When I was framing, I was helping a buddy hang a header for a garage door. Well he hit a knot, just like you did, and the nail flew out and hit me in the mouth. I had a cute lil hole in my bottom lip. hurt like hell. Now I have a cute lil scar on my bottom lip.

Buck,
Sorry to hear about your mishap. I know it wil lbe sore for a while, but I hope you heal soon. Just out of curiousity, what kind of nail gun were you using?? I ask because my dad is a Senco rep and he has some great stories of people hurting themselves with guns. Yours sounds like it was a freak accident, but you should hear some of the self inflicted (idiotic actions) that some of the people in his plants have done with these things.
