Plug the network cable back in.

Good luck...it'll be something simple or stupid.

Ain't IT Great.

You know what I hate the most about IT.....take this morning for example:

I notice that my shares are "empty"....so I log into the server via RD...everything looks good...I do notice that SBS did some updates overnight....so I figured that based on past experiences with M$ and their limited wisdom...something got focked with during the update....So...I reboot the server then reboot my desktop.....all shares and exchange are working again......during this process, I get a 5 phone calls asking if the server is down and then being given UNWANTED suggestions on how it should be setup and 6 personal visits doing the same......

I am not a people person....mainly because I can not deal with the ignorance....I hate IT because since most have a P.O.S. computer from Circuit City or Wal-Mart....they automatically think they are experts in the realm of modern day computing....so...when chit goes wrong....they ultimately forget that THEY (the user) are in command of that mystical box and automatically resolve that the problem lies elsewhere (i.e. the server, ISP, etc....)......

Most days I feel like just taking the keyboard and smacking it across the back of some users heads.....

Anyway, problem seems to apparently be fix....for now...

Reboot dude.

Everyone knows thats the magical "fix".

Reboot the server, or any switches, routers, hubs, whatever. I work internet tech support, and 85-90% of the fixes are simple reboot of routers, Linksys is the main one.....and all they have to do is a firmware update, and they'd be fine.,....anywho......sorry your Friday took a nose dive. Go play some golf at lunch, and have a couple beers.

My personal favorite is the email barrage of MS Q articles from people in the company who have nearly no technical knowledge at all.

I had the problem at my last company with little ITers helping but not here.

Here it is almost all women so they just scream when it doesnt work. I can take it by just not answering the phone when I know there is a problem and I'm working on i.

COMMON. I'll buy the beer, and you pay for the golf and we'll be all set-up.

With these gas prices everyone is crying about, you'd never make it in that 5.4 without selling a kid or something.

If it was 400 degrees down there I'd make the trip... I'll be in Corpus Christi next March-ish. Should be nice then!
