Time to Conserve Fuel
At work I suck down 1/2 a tank in the 04 XL a day, the 4.6 likes to drink. Outside work, my personal 04 XLT 5.4L has not moved in a week. I have been driving my old 97 ranger around town, and even that hurts at $40 a tank.
My companys small, 3-4 trucks on the road a week and right now we are up to $1500 a WEEK in gas. With this roomer of a diesel shortage we will be totally screwed along with the rest of america. Its ugly.
But on another note, If I could afford to take a week off right now, I would IN A HEARTBEAT load my 150, and my 16' box trailer full of supplys and head to NOLA.
No amount of cost to me can hurt as bad as loosing everything like those people did.

What a knucklehead!

I can't believe that you just sent me an email just to call me an idiot in "private"....do you not have the ***** to do so here on the net?...How childish is that?...
You are more than entitled to your opinion on ME...just as anyone else on here is....but the minute you start to question my patriotism...I have no other option but to call you out on that.
And I stick by my previous statement that I will NOT change my ways just to appease YOU. My personal contribution to the "demand" side of the equation is not going to make an impact at the pump. You, as well as the rest of the community, are just going to have to accept the outrageous price of gas because whenever you get the general public involved in something (such as handing out driving privilges to any fool that can pass a mulitple choice test with a 70% or better and show minor competency in driving skills) you are going to introduce vast ignorance into a complex system.
People feel they NEED to drive a Hummer to the grocery store because it is a show of status.....people feel the NEED to crack jokes at how the public transportation system is for the poor and derilic....people feel the NEED to live above and beyond their needs.....
All this is the unfortunate side effects of living in a FREE country...so....until the dispruption of personal finances come to those that feel the NEED as stated above....all of us are going to feel the pain of living in this FREE society....If you cannot handle this....you need to put your efforts into changing the system and not sending out pointless emails that clutter my inbox.....just my $0.02...

I've been called alot of things, most of it has been on here, the majority of other is behind my back. Occasionally to my face, but I don't think that I've EVER gotten a "personal" nasty E-Mail! AND THEN..... to make it even funnier.. it was over the price of gas! LMAO "It must be your fault wstahlm80! If you didn't buy such a LARGE percentage of the countries daily fuel consumption, then it might be cheaper! Why dont you lay off the Shell station for the next cuople of weeks. I bet that would build up a few million gallons in our reseve!"

Just dont be an idiot about it!
everyone can get on here and claim "i do what i want, when i want", but at some point you will stop and say damn, gas is high, better change my ways. it might be $3.50 a gallon or $4.50 a gallon but at some point the cost exceeds the benefit....everyone has a price and a point they will go to.
i benefit from the fact that i have a truck at work that me, my dad and my brother use for hauling and projects (97 f250). i also have a play car that i am putting a 460 in that might get 10 mpg, my daily driver is a supercrew with a 5.4 that gets 12 to 13 mpg, at the rate gas is going up i will not be getting another full size truck for my daily running around. can i afford $5.00 a gallon gas, sure, business is good, i am just getting to the point that the waste of my money every week is making me pi$$ed.
lucky for all of us, making stupid desicions on how to spend our money is not against the law, if gas continues at the current rate, most of us will adjust the car market and more opions will be available in the mid size vehicles and alternative fuels. that extra $100 a month people are dropping on gas will have an effect on spending.

If you can’t answer yes to every one of those above then I wouldn’t be labeling others as un-American and not a patriot…
Just seems like a very odd post from you, all of a sudden its ok to do exactly as the President ask…

No... it's not really from living in a "FREE" country as you put it... it's some mental idea that Americans have that they have to have the biggest and the best and show it off too...
Other countries are just as "FREE" as we are and they use public transportation or they don't drive large vehicles and then laugh at people when they're asked to conserve fuel with "I bought a truck to drive and not look at"
During WWII people had Victory Gardens to help out with food... It's the same idea with this natural disaster that has devastated the Gulf Coast area. For this short time, about a month, when refineries and the Gulf Coast area are recovering to get back to it's old refinement of oil to get you your precious gasoline, simply try to not to use as much oil.
My truck and two friend's vehicles haven't moved in days. We're all using one car and going shopping in groups. Gasoline here IS hard to find and stations run out... when they do get gas in, it's a 2 hour wait.
My Brother-In-Law called from Memphis, TN and he said gasoline there was super hard to find with lots of stations out of gas. I've been getting same reports from people in Georgia.

Not like some of the inane ranting that has been seen in many of the posts.
I note too that you are from New Orleans and that makes your views all the more noteworthy.
When I made a comment recently about not using quite so much fuel to help in the overall situation some idiot said to the effect..."I'll keep on using my truck as much as I want "
There's patriotism for you !
Anyway I hope YOU are well and are not sufffering in any undue way.
Good luck to you and everyone else there.
These effing gas threads are getting on my nerves and don't tell me not to open them up and look at them because Im tired of the whole GD GD forum being filled up with blah blah GAS blah blah, my vagina has sand in it and it hurts. I think the moderators need to do something about it and until than I'll keep reporting all of these RETARDED gas theads as spam.

I can't decide if it's my imagination or not, but there seems to be fewer cars on the road. Easier to cross the main roads, not as many cars at the red lights, etc. Quite a few more pedal bikes than I recall seeing, but I wasn't looking for them before either.
I think people are generally talking the talk AND walking the walk here if you know what I mean.
