I love the general population. They are so stupid. I also love those that believe stuff sent over e-mail by an unknown source.

Face the facts people, gas WILL approach $4/gal in the SHORT TERM before settling down to around $2.50. A worst-case scenario that puts average prices for regular unleaded gasoline at about $3.50 a gallon for the next four to six months.

Suck it up and for the love of god post in the right $%*@() forum!!!

Oh, and as for the so-called 'shortage'. Yes, some places will run out for a bit. It's not forever or even a couple days... get a grip. The bigger issue is natural gas and electricity... do your homework people..

Im here just south of ATL, in Morrow. I was driving through Mcdonough/Stockbridge and gas is insane!!! It went up like $3 in a couple hours. There WILL be prosecution for price gouging, thats just wrong. I filled up on the way down here in South Caroline for $2.27/gallon. That was the cheapest I found in VA, NC, SC, GA, etc. I do alot of driving, luckily I get reimbursed .42/mile. This sucks, I shoulda bought a 4cyl.

Actually, local officials in Atlanta are saying that it is not price gouging. It is simply a natural economic reaction to a sudden spike in demand (panic buying) coupled with a sudden drop in supply (due to pumping stations that supply the tank farms in the area with gas). I sure hope this is a temporary phenomenon, cause I drive 60 miles a day to and from work!

And if it does get back down to $2.50 a gallon 3/4 of the people will be so happy to pay "ONLY" $2.50/ gallon that they'll wet themselves.

Here in East Tennessee it went from 2.50 to 3.15 this afternoon and most of the gas stations are rationing it out at like $10 max fill. There are several gas stations here that had to close because they are out of gas and they say they won't get more for atleast a week or two.

Speaking of unknown sources..

"In a research note, Behravesh laid out a worst-case scenario that puts average prices for regular unleaded gasoline at about $3.50 a gallon for the next four to six months."

http://money.cnn.com/2005/08/31/news...ex.htm?cnn=yes

I was just reading that article before I read your post.

That same article said:

"Brockwell said with gasoline prices now exceeding $3 a gallon before even reaching the wholesale level, it "doesn't take a genius" to expect retail prices to hit $4 a gallon soon."

As wierd as it may sound, this disaster was actually good news to the market today. The thinking is the feds won't dampen things any further now--the uncertainty of interest rates were removed from the equation.

I filled my Lightning and my '97 F150(4.6L) this afternoon at the Shell station at mile marker 146(Warner Robins exit) on I-75. I paid $3.16.9 for 93 octane for both vehicles. The '97 is chipped. Had to wait behind two vehicles but this was at about 3 PM.

Should have watched Channel 11 News. The rumor has caused panic buying and that could cause a few stations to run out of regular and create a man made shortage down in southern Ga which would causes prices to go even higher! The supply for Savannah comes in by ship and the pipeline serving it is not broken.
Glad I filled up when it was only 2.51 a gal the other day.
Will be interesting to see what happens because of Katrina!! (real or imagined)!!
Price is 2.99 per gal in this location.
