Katrina

Just got finished watcheing the local news. Naturally they were talking about Katrina. This will only be the 4thd time a category 5 hurricane has hit the mainland US. Four time too many. Wind speeds are now 167 sustained and 202! mph wind gusts. I just can't imagine wind speeds over 200mph. I can understand it in a tornado which is highlt localized, but to be in such a widespread area.
For all who live in that area stay safe.

No s**t... I didn't think it would strengthen THAT freaking much... On Friday they thought in "might" make it to Cat 2 before hitting Florida, then I saw SAt that it would make it to LA as a Cat 2, maybe a Cat 3...

NOW< I'VE JUST HEARD THAT IT WILL BE A CATEGORY FIVE!!!!!!!!

Holy ***** Batman!!! Katrina got her big-@$$ in the weight room it seems; and strengthened up drastically...

They said by this time tomorrow, New Orleans could be under 20 feet of water....

Unfortunately it already is a cat 5 and they expect it to still be a cat 4 when it hits the Lousiana-Mississippi border.

Regardless of where you live in this country, do your beer fund a favor and go fill up your gastank NOW.

Oil futures are already cruising. If this thing does the damage they're advertising, you're going to paying $3.00 per gallon by friday.

It has always puzzled me why they built N.O. on land that is below sea level with just man made walls to protect it.

Just like I've heard a few others say, it's not a question of if, but a question of when. From what I've seen on a few stations so far, it sounds like Katrina has the possibility to answer that "when" question.

In addition to the fuel prices going up, so will your insurance as all those companies will lose there bohunkuses if N.O. disappears.

Of course, all the stations like to hype up stuff like this, but when geologists state that the Mississippi River could correct it's path and change 300 linear miles of it's landscape, that's pretty good indication that careful attention is needed with this storm.
