Predictions of gas prices after hurricane
Seeing as how hurricane katrina is set to disrupt our oil supply in a big way. Anybody have a prediction/guess of how high gas prices are going to get?
Actually at the beginning of the week, due to the speculation of the storm, oil prices rose. Then towards the end of the week, when word got out that not all personal on the oil rigs would be leaving, oil prices fell. That was because what was speculated as a real bad storm was now not considered so bad…
It all has to do with speculation now days rather then what actually happens. Of course if production was slowed or halted it would affect gas prices but that’s after the fact. Just the mere thought that production can be affected can cause gas prices to rise…
Prices will stay about where they are, not much higher or lower, at least not to do with this storm…

I say it will raise maybe a few cents but here in houston i doubt it will reach 3 dollars.
Remember the reason gas is so high is not so much lack of supply as it is lack of refining capability and the expectation of a lack of supply.
Just dont buy into the ethanol is the key stupidity.

I'd guess a little higher since it's a convenient excuse. Not too much though. I'd say and average of 2.75 at most.

It will be higher. How much, not sure, but the hurricane is hitting not only an oil production area, it is hitting an oil refinery area. Most of the oil refineries in the US are on the gulf coast. The problems they had last year from hurricanes and damage from fires/explosions ar part if not a lot of the reason for high prices now. Not enough refineries.
