Mustang guy needs help...

Hey guys I belong to 3or4 mustang forums and know when something is wrong or i have a question that is the place to go because of the vast amount of knowledge available here my problem though, my dad has a 2001 F 150 and needs help so i joined here and thought i would ask.

Background: Someone hit the passenger side mirror and broke the color backing into about 3 pieces, destroyed the actual mirror and all the hardware on it.

What i have bought so far: Color backing already painted and installed, and mirror.

What i need: 2 jackscrews and 2 friction pins that go on the mirror and make it move up/down and left/right.

Problem: Ford doesnt sell just the screws/pins and junkyards want to sell me the whole assembly also.

My thinking: why should i pay ~300 dollars from ford and about 80-90 dollars to a junk yard for 2 nylon screws and 2 nylon pins?

Does anyone know where i can buy just the pins and screws. Thanks in advance for you help and sorry for the long post. Go blue oval...

I don't know if this will help, but have you tried any auto stores or even a hardware store to find what you need. I know when I need screws, nuts, etc, for my bike or whatever and its a lot cheaper finding them at a hardware store. Good luck.

Yeah ive tried all of that they arent just normal pins/screws they have kind of a ball and socket thing going on like the ball is on the screw end instead of say a slot for a screwdriver, then they push into the socket in the mirror backing. Its kind of like a shoulder joint or hip joint. Thanks though.

I will search my stash when I go back out to the garage.

I know I have a complete door, headlights, parklights, and few other things for a 99 f150. For some reason I am thinking I just might have a mirror housing with out the glass, but no promise on that. If I do its yours man.

Mustangs RULE , and so do F150s. Well, except for the 04 ridiculous interior, but still the best truck on the planet. Sometimes I wonder what car makers are thinking..... Like getting rid of the F-body and making some super-ghey cobalt. And the Excursion?? that has to be the most worthless vehicle on the planet.. Well maybe second to the H3 and its I-5 220 hp engine HAHAHAHA POS

You might try posting your question here:
http://flatratetech.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi

There are alot of Ford Techs who answer questions there.
