"I asked if it would be for the Lightning...he said it was too fast...."

What? A stock, 10- second truck is too fast?

I know I'm not part of the "east coast club", but I think he is referring to the plans for the Gen 3 lightning.

I'm suspicious.

Ford has its own test track. Why go slumming with the locals?

First off you'd be very supprised at how open they are in some areas of product development. And..... ultra tight in others.

Second, this was at a FME night which is mostly comprised of ford employees. Not the knuckle dragging slum like creatures that you might picture at the local SE michigan dragstrips.

It is not Ford Production that is testing that engine it is Ford Racing's project.

That maybe why they are testing it openly.

God Bless,

Ford does a lot of public testing. Some stuff needs to be kept secret, and some stuff they WANT people's feedback. You'd be surprised how many test mules roam the streets of Michigan. I saw pics of one of the Terminator mules over a year before they hit production. The pics were taken at a gas station, where the Ford guy was openly showing people the engine (which was a 5.4 in this car BTW).
