All of your First Lady choices are actresses. I'm sure one or two of them are reasonably intelligent, but they are all just actresses. Unlike the residents of Malibu, there are lots of people in the USA that look down at the 'Hollyweird' crowd as being mostly liberal wierdos that are too far removed from the mainstream. This does not jive with your mostly conservative platform.
Kobi,
I Farked this article. Reminded me of you.

Kobi....i'm With Ya...
That was a lot to take in this early on a Wed. morning...either way, you have my support...I for one would look forward to seeing someone "out" all the trash up in DC and reveal them for the snakes they are...

(Don't forget me when it comes time to choosing your Cabinet)
Deborah Kara Unger: No
Not a natural blond...could be hiding something. Her movies have never been terribly successful, therefore minimal name recognition.
Famke Janssen : Yes
Natural and sexy. Has class. Big recognition due to X-Men movies and successful TV career. She could help bring in the 18-35 male crowd.
Laura Linney: Leaning No
Marginally successful movie career. She doesn't quite have that home town girl look that will help. She is too sophisticated...may remind people of the NE and Kerry.
Rachel Weisz: 50/50
Age could be an issue...dont want the daddy/girl image. If we can avoid that you have a possibility. Exit polling for the age may need to be done. May be more trouble than she is worth.
Rebecca Romijn: No
Quite a looker but her history worries me: "Once a college student who was born to hippie parents,". This could be problematic in the Bible belt. Raoul could give you a run on the coasts so you need to be sure to lock up the midwest.
Rosamund Pike: Leaning No
Nice eye candy but doesnt have any Wow charateristics.
Sofia Coppola 50/50
Nice film history. No real obvious hang ups. The pic you posted is amazing but what google turned up weren't as flattering. As eye candy you can do better.
I've got to recommend Famke Janssen She is the total package. I can see her reading a book to children, cutting a ribbon at a woman's shelter, standing by your side as you make your speeches.

And like you, I ask which leader is it today that has the vision, the willpower and, yes, the backbone to best protect my family?
The clear answer to that question has placed me before you in this forum.
There is but one man to whom I am willing to entrust their future and that man's name is Raoul Obaganzee.
Campaign talk tells people who you want them to think you are. Your actions tell people who you really are deep inside.
I am not a slick talker but a straight shooter and, where I come from, deeds mean a lot more than words.
Knock on the door of my soul and you will find someone home, a God-fearing man with a good heart and a spine of tempered steel.
I am the man to trust to protect your most precious possession: your family.
This election will change forever the course of history, and that's not any history. It's our family's history.
The only question is how. The answer lies with each of us. And, like many generations before us, we've got some hard choosing to do.
Right now the world just cannot afford an indecisive America. Fainthearted self-indulgence will put at risk all we care about in this world.
In this hour of danger our President must have the courage to stand up.
Thank you.
God Bless this great country.
Your support would make me very happy.

Here is my reply:
Dear Friends and Fellow Americans -
After reading Raoul's speech I am touched in a way, so deep, that I can not describe. It is clear that my opponent is an honest man, a man of conviction, a highly intelligent man, and a man with values. If further clarified for me the sadness and disappointment I felt when Raoul Obaganzee announced his candidacy opposite mine, for I must confess, although it is a mute point now, that Raoul was at the top of my list for Vice Presidential Candidates. When Mr. Obaganzee stated in post 16 of his thread that he is more interested in my running mate rather than my mate, well, it can now be told that the running-mate decision has been stalled slightly out of necessity. Our number one choice suddenly was no longer available. Heck, we didn't even get an opportunity to ask.
Sad days indeed.
I had placed Raoul at the top of my list because he is so great, so inspiring, so wise, and because . . . and this is important, because he has a wonderful, self-deprecating sense of humor. Any man without a sense of humor is a somber and poor choice to lead the country. And in terms of leading the country, well, make no mistake, Raoul IS and excellent choice. If I were not running, I'd vote for him!
But I am running. And, like my opponent, I too have family values, and value the family. I don't think there's any question about that. One need only read my Just Ask Kobi™ thread to see that. And yes, while the responses in Just Ask Kobi™ can often be tongue-in-cheek, they clearly demonstrate that I am not one to be misleading, I am not one to be vague, and I certainly have values that I believe in and that are good. With that in mind, I had imagined that my First Lady post would have been understood for the moment of levity that it was in an otherwise tough campaign. They say comedy (even in lighthearted moments) is all about good timing. I guess I need to work on my timing.
Which brings me to this point. To those of you out there who think that my First Lady thread is some indication that I am only interested in Actresses, or that I am part of the Liberal Hollywood Leftist Machine, then all I have to say is this: Think Again.
And to those doubters who are under the impression that my views and how I am expressing them now that the campaign has started have become the typical, vague, substance-less, usual political mish-mash, to them I repeat, Think Again.
And to the established Washingtonian Elite who have made partisan politics, self-interest, and business-as-usual their agenda, to them I say, Think Again.
Mr. Obaganzee speaks of being a straight shooter and reminds us that deeds speak louder than words. And yet, his first real appearance before you is mere words, and vague ones at that. His words, so far as I can tell, although they sound great, and give one a warm-fuzzy feeling inside, really tell us nothing. And he reminds us that:
"Campaign talk tells people who you want them to think you are. Your actions tell people who you really are deep inside."
Absolutely. And his post clearly demonstrates this.
Read my Ask Kobi forum and start to see who I am. Watch our campaign and see what it is we are DOING to change this country, and join us as we take ACTION to make those changes happen!
Raoul says that your support would make him happy. That's nice. I however, am not running and asking for your support to make myself happy, I'm asking for your support to bring real changes and to make this country a better place.
To those who would have you believe that this campaign is a dangerous, faint-hearted act of self-indulgence, I say to you, JUST WATCH US. You can join us or get out of the way.
God Bless you! God Bless this great country! Now let's get to work!

Dear SAJEFFC -
Wonder no more.
While I can't speak for Raoul, I can tell you that I have never tried marijuana or any other illicit drugs, and that I do not drink. And, I am willing to take a lie detector test and can have dozens of character witnesses sign affidavits to back up my claim in case you don't believe me and desire proof.
All you need to do is read some of my past posts where I described my experiences in college with my roommate in the dorms to learn why it is I do not, and never did engage in such activities.
I have tried wine and beer, and once I tried a martini and found all of them to be absolutely dreadful.
As for drugs . . . while growing up, my father was very strict, and when I misbehaved he would not hesitate to use some form of corporal punishment. His views were very clear . . . he told me that if I ever used drugs of any kind, he would kill me. And I believed him too. One thing I or anyone else does not do is go against my father's wishes.
So I never tried drugs strictly out of fear that my father would beat me within an inch of my life.
I also went to an all boys Catholic college prep school, and if the fear of my father wasn't enough to keep me on the straight and narrow path, the fear of the Brother's of the Holy Cross and the fear of God sure did. After that, such a lifestyle of abstinence from illicit substances was habit. On top of the benefit that I did not use drugs and all their terrible consequences, I also saved a TON of money, which I invested at an early age . . . part of the reason I was able to retire at the tender age of 41.
Anyway, not that it matters if you believe me or not, but that's the answer.
By the way . . . that corporal punishment thing. It works, and it's sorely needed today in schools and in the home.
Thanks for your question.

If I may be so bold, I must take a moment to respond to the kind words from my distinguished opponent. I would never have considered posting my speech in the announcement thread of an adversary, (though I have had the pleasure of his scholarly utterings in my announcement thread thrice) for him to do so reflects the true sportsmanship and fair play coming from that camp.
I too feel that were I not in this race I would fully support Mr Kobiashi's candidacy, despite the extensive European influence from his extended travels and though the ethnic source of the 'Kobiashi' name does give me pause, I feel reasonably certain the ship of State would not end up on the rocks under his hand. A glancing blow perhaps but, not hard and fast.
Be that as it may, the fact remains that there is a choice on the table.
The choice is yours.
Choose wisely my fellow Americans.

I am sorry for that.
Keep up the good work. Our running against each other can only raise the bar and produce the best results . . . regardless of who wins.
Respectfully, and with great admiration,

PS, with regard to that "ethnic source" of my name (not to mention Raoul???), rest easy. The story behind the name, ow I got it etc. is documented in the Just Ask Kobi thread. THere is no ethnic reasons for it at all. Rest assured that I am 100% American through and through and any European influence, if any, well . . . not there.

wonder if either of them ever smoked a doob in college?
