Sounds a bit fishy. Usually though they want your bank routing numbers and such so they can wire the money to your account, then they wipe it out.

There was something about a laptop being sold to someone in the UK with a similar tone to it. Let me see if I can find the website for that. Maybe that'll help.

Typical scam. Go ahead and delete the email. You probably did not give him/her/it any information they could not otherwise find on the web somewhere. And, since these dirtbags scammers come and go, I would venture that the email address will no longer be active in a couple weeks. I would also venture that dozens of people have received similar offers from similar email addresses, but it woudl be a waste of time to try tracking them down to one person.

Thanks guys. Darn I really hoped this was legit, but oh well. I'll delete the emails and wait for a member of this forum to reply.

Ahh, it was using a fake escrow acount. Here's the link, it's a funny story..

Beware the fake escrow account. If one is used the seller needs to be the one picking the escrow company.

Ask him what his user name is on F150online.com and check his post count. Not to be negative, but I would only sell to someone with a post count of at least 25.

I doubt he/she/it is a member of the site. That would make them too easy to track down. We don't have a membership requirement to reply to classified ads.

I can almost guarantee you WILL receive what LOOKS LIKE like a legitimate cashier's check via Fed Ex or DHL for an amount significantly higher than what you are asking for. The explanation will be that you have to forward the extra via Western Union to someone overseas to pay shipping or some other excuse.

If you deposit this check at your bank, they are only permitted to hold it for so long, not long enough to clear the other bank in most cases. If you send the money and the check comes back you will be responsible for it.

I see this scam nearly 100 times a year. Whatever you do, do not negotiate that check.
