Pinks on Speed Channel...

Anybody watching this show? I think it's great!

Premise is you get two guys racing best 2 out of 3, or 3 out of 5 for actual pink slips (loser loses his car - for real).

They negotiate terms (how many length head start for the slower car, w/ or w/out nitrous, length of race) etc... before each run.

Sandbagging and breakdowns occur. High drama ensues.

My only complaint is they don't show times and speeds when running the full quarter.

Last night had a big block, 2 stage nitrous mid '90's Monte Carlo on big ol' slicks (estimated 1000 hp on the bottle) vs. a '68 Camaro, big block with a crate motor (500-600 hp?) and a full cage. The Monte was pulling the fronts off the ground on nitrous.

This show has me hooked! I hope it lasts for awhile...

I watched it last night. It was pretty good. That Camero was sweet, and the dude in the Monte Carlo did give them huge leads.

8 friggin cars? WTF.

I watched the one where the two guys were running late model camaros. And one guy had a 125 shot of N02 and the other a 50 shot. The guy with the 125 shot won. I hate the negotiating. They need to run what they brung, and let the show find almost equally matched cars so it will at least be interesting. Oh, and use a christmas tree and a set of timing light for pete's sake! How cheap can you get?

I agree with ya on that Peace, race what ya got, but the tree would take away from the "street scene". I think that's what they are trying to make it look like. I agree a tree would look more professional.

I wanna see a close race, back and forth type race. The race last night was sorda BS. If the dudes Camero cant beat the Monte Carlo heads up, then get off the track, and put another car with "1,000" horses next to him. That would have made good TV.

I like it. The negotiating is the most important part though. A lot of guys will sandbag.

I forgot about the "street race" scene. I agree, the show has to be different from just normal heads up drag racing because it wouldn't be much different than watching the NHRA Nationals. Except the cars are slower.

I've seen it 4 times and its different each time.

My preference would be to run cars with similar performance and similar $ values, and run 3 out of 5. But usually the cars have nothing in common and they run 2 out of 3.

They definitely want it to have a 'street race' flavor, though they used a photo finish last night (there was one other episode I thought the dude at the finish line made the wrong call, but they did not go to the tape).

The negotiations absolutely have a lot to do with the outcome. Sometimes guys seem unreasonable. But there is a lot of pressure and you never know what the show might edit out, so I cut the participants some slack. But if a guy acts like a whiney little bitch, then I cheer for the other guy!

I can't imagine building a car with your own hard earned money and lots of your sweat, and then losing it all because you could not hook up. One dude lost a tricked out GTO cause something in the rear end broke his 2nd run. Bummer!

Racing for pinks is way too high of stakes for me to ever do, but it is fun to watch!

I love that show but I only seen the first one with the Firebird and the Camaro. I don't know when it comes on.

If you ask me, I bet the Losers get compensated for their vehicle. You may lose the vehicle but I get you get paid for it from the shows budget

Did anyone see this weeks show? Mustang vs Camaro? I only caught the last 5 minutes. The Camaro driver, Brian Bossone runs a local performance shop here in MD. I had him do work on my mustang a few times. Was a pretty decent guy (although his buddies that hung in the shop were just plain ignorant). How did he act in the show? Arrogant or decent?

I remember him back when his shop was a hole in the wall garage. He did do some nice work though.

I saw one episode where it was a late model Trans Am that was built to the hill vs. a riced out turbo Honda. Do I even need to tell you who won? The stupid Honda boys wanted a 25 car head start. They gave him a still rediculous amount (like 15), and still almost beat him. On the final run, the Trans Am still won, even without 2nd gear, and the Honda still got a head start.

If you go to the web site, the participants not only DON'T get compensated if they lose their ride, they don't even get paid for being on the show. They get NOTHING. Looks like the network found a totally sucker filled, profitable show to make.(don't care how much confidence I had in my vehicle, would never race for "pinks")

this has become my favorite show..If I could just get my damn DVR to record each episode...it misses it almost all the time...did you see the one with the two hayabusa's making 500+ HP each...that show was cool...and yeah I saw the RICER get eaten alive by the TA...

now the one with the bikes, this one guys crew was mouthing off to the host, and he wasnt taking it and said that if it continues you and your team can leave and the other guy wins by forfeit..the host guy is way cool..

Motown Muscle, a Detroit based car club with over 2000 members is building a car. I offered a 351w and aod tranny, but they are using something else.
