Lucky or not..
Lucky or not..
Well I just got home for the night. Went out to the woods where we always are hanging out in my mom's expedition. It was real dry out and got pretty damn dusty so I figured I'd take it and run it through the car wash real quick. Well I pull up, no one at the car wash. I see a wallet sitting on the car wash selecter thing. I was like holy chit my lucky day. So I look in it, find $40 so I was like hell yeah and took it. Soon as I got in the car wash, I knew I needed to put it back so soon as I got out I put the money back in there. There were a few people there at the time so I went around and asked them if it was theirs but all of them said nope. So I just put the wallet back where I found it, I figured it'd be better not to even mess around with it. I figured the guy might come back hopefully soon as he got home and started emptying his pockets. Maybe I should of taken it to the police station but its a hell of a drive? Im just proud right now sitting back knowing I didn't take the money.
I just hope another person doesn't come by before the old guy gets there and finds his credit cards and $40 missing.

So are you patting yourself on the back? I would give it to the car wash attendant or take it home. Surely it had a ID and there's always qwestdex.com
You did alright but I dont get the point of the post

Thumper you are not a thief.
However, you chose to not get involved.
You left the owner at the mercy of the next person to come along who may be a thief.
Next time, look for identification, go to a phone and make a call.
If you can't contact the owner, call the police.
Explain and they will meet you somewhere so you don;t have a long drive to the station.
Do you carry a wallet?
What would you someone to do for you if the roles were reversed?

Good job Thump. I'm proud of you. We need more people like us.
If it were me, I would have took the wallet home, looked the guy up in the phone book, or whatever and called him. It would have went something like this:
"Yes, this is jamzwayne, are you "Mr. Jones"?
~Yes it is, how can I help you?
"Well, I went to wash my truck this evening and noticed you left your wallet".
~Oh that's just great.
"Where would you like to meet to pick it up? I know a great BBQ place"

I had to do it at least once.

Good job Thumper. You did the right thing. Should you have called the guy...maybe?? Called the cops??? you did what you thought was the right thing to do nd thats all that matters. Pat yourself on the back for NOT being a thief and knowing that , that $40 might have been all the guy had to get by this week. Dont worry about the killjoys here..those are the guys that would've taken the money and thrown the wallet in the trash...

thumper you done what you thought was right, you knew it was wrong to take the money, so you put it back. i think you need a pat on the back. most younger people, or at least most of the younger people around here, would have took the money, threw the wallet out the window, and never gave it a second thought. good job.
thumper...you did good by not taking it. But, since you didnt...you might have missed out on the guy spotting you a 20 for being so honest. granted after seeing pics of the new tv, your truck..blah blah blah..20 might not seem much, but that is at least a 12pk..
thumper and anyone else
