Trail camera testing...
Trail camera testing...
Had my new trail camera out behind work last night testing it. Snagged several pics, these are the best. I had the flash turned off; the creatures are in the building shadow so they ain't that great. Camera is now out in the woods in front of the salt lick for its first night tonight.
Those cameras are pretty sweet...now put it in a place that will catch a big buck...if you get a picture of one draging its hind legs, let buckdropper know...i think he may want to exchance information for insurance purposes....
Haha...I've always wondered why somebody don't rig up that automatic mechanism on a gun. A big buck walks up at night and...BOOOM sumbich is dead. As a matter of fact it would be a good way to kill a turkey, squirrel or just about anything in it's path...
It is triggered by movement and heat; i.e. it looks for movement, but it must be a warm object to trigger it, so you don't get tons of pics of branches moving in the wind. Can't wait to check it out tomorrow or friday to see if I picked up anything...

The model I got was Leaf River, for anyone looking to buy such a camera, not sure if I would reccomend it. There is a design flaw in the camera that causes flash photos to be cruddy. Knowing what I do about cameras, I diagnosed it as a light leak from the flash. Turns out, there are holes in the flash reflector where the wires go in and out, and also where it clips onto the circuit board. When the flash fires, light bounces out through these holes and off the circuit boards and cover glass and then into the lens; this totally washes out the contrast and or overexposes the picture. After taking it apart, I was able to light-proof the flash and lens assembly so it works great now, but you shouldn't have to tinker with an almost $300 trail camera like that to make it work right. Aside from that, it's a wonderful camera. Nasty email to the company coming forthwith...
Very funny wstahlm80 you leg humper. I have one close to that but it is not digital. Inbred i was at the cabalas in hamburg Pa man what a store HUGE. We even stopped at Centralia for a peak on our way to Delaware. I snuck around the end of the barrier and drove down the road for a bit and when she seen smoke rise from the huge cracks my wifey (after reading the sign) freaked out and made me turn around. I was laughing so hard i stalled the truck making the turn. What a wuzz she is. We also stopped in Lancaster and stayed at the fake showboat hotel nice place. We rode in the Amish buggy and i drank allot of whiskey sours that night. I was gonna look you up but it during the week and i know you were working but maybe next time bud.
They are nice and it does sem to take nice pics... But it takes teh fun out of it for me. I enjoy sitting in the woods watching nature spotting for game. It's a nice relaxing get away from wife, kids, work, and everything else. But All I have to do is walk 20 yards behind my house and I am in the woods. ON second thought though if I had to drive somewhere then I wouldn't beable to go just whenever so I might would use a camera then.
