Whats this mean?
I was browsing my own photo gallery and noticed Steve had added a handy "Forum Codes" button
When you click on it it give you the urls for the fullsize and the thumnail of that image but it also says this.
What does this abuse warning from back in Feb.5, 2003 mean?

It means that you can not display an image from a post here by using the '[IMG]' tags on another board. You have to either link them to the thread here OR copy the image and repost it elsewhere. Hotlinking images eats up bandwidth.
What used to occur was that people would use our galleries for hosting images that they wanted to show on other sites. This meant that every time that image was viewed, it was being requested from our server. This increased bandwidth usage.
The spirit of our galleries, though rarely enforced, was to provide a free place for our users to share images with each other on this site.
The abuses of this became so great (resulting increased bandwidth and disk space usage to store the images) that every large Ford truck enthusiast site that I am aware of eliminated this "outside linking" capability.
Unlike other sites, however, we do not replace the image with an advertisement for our site (a common practice) and instead replace it with a single pixel clear image.
