Talking Raced a 300 C hemi

Last night on the way home from town on the 4 lane this hemi 300 c with 22s pulls up beside me (I was in my lincoln ls v8) and kicks it so I get up beside him look over and he kicks it again and slows back down I pull up along side him again and roll my window down and the passenger in his car is waving us to race so I yell back to him to hit it.

We both took off at the same time the lincoln pulled ahead on down shift and stayed ahead by about a car length and was slowly slowly pulling away. We run up to about 135 and then both pulled off. Agreed they were both sweet cars. Then he asked what the lincoln had in it....He was shocked it was a 3.9 walking on his 5.7

I know the ls is not a speed demon, but it is a quick little sedan.

I miss my LS... it really is a great sleeper car. Many kills with my 2000 LS... I loved that thing. Nice job!

I wish Ford would wise up and use that engine in other cars... it's so sweet and still has plenty more untapped HP.

It does a great job of shifting on its own, so most of the time I just leave it in D5.

0-60

Hemi powered 300C: 5.3-5.8 seconds (depending on the source.)
Lincoln LS V8: 6.8 seconds (Best time I could find. 7.2 was the norm.)

1/4 mile

Hemi powered 300C: 13.9 @102 mph
Lincoln LS V8: 15.02 @ 92.8 mph (Best time I could find)

Something just doesn't add up here.

Not that I could find.

Besides, they started from a roll. Those 22's aren't going to make that much difference from a roll, and they aren't going to affect 0-60 time as much as you might think either. Especially if they haven't added a great deal of weight or total diameter with the wheel tire combo. In fact, traction may have been improved since they were most likely wider than the skinny tires that come stock. Maybe the 300C had a few bodies in the trunk.

Who really cares, it just seemed a little off to me.

Hemi isnt that fast no way more like 6.5 or maybe a lil slower.
The lincoln is pretty quick didnt they use to run with the BMW 540???
However not too quick had a 94 caddy with the big old Northstar and she had no prob blowing one away.
Nice kill thow.

Why guess? Google it. The LS8 has been disappointingly slow in every report I have seen on it. I actually wanted one, until I saw how underpowered they were compared with the market they were shooting for. The new Jaguar S-Type with the 4.2L version of the same engine is only turning 6.4 seconds 0-60. Same platform. Similar weights. The BMW 540i was turning out a 0-60 times of 5.3-5.5 seconds.

In 03 or somthing I think the ls had some changes giving it more power.

I came home last night and looked at the numbers too, your right it does not add up but the hemi had 4 guys in it, I only had one.

I would like to run him again from 0-140 and see what happens.

The lincolns are in no way slow, it does away with older gt mustangs pretty easy.

Makes more sense now. That could be a 600 lbs advantage. Big difference. I'll buy that.

The LS V8 got variable cam timing in '03, bumping power from 252 hp to 280 hp. They move out pretty well for what they are. The autostick transmission is fun, they sound pretty cool bouncing off the rev limiter in second gear...not that I would do anything like that.

I don't know if he was an AT or MX, I'm almost sure it was a AT.

?????? I DONT THINK SO, try high 5's lol not that thats a huge dif but its not quite that fast. We looked at them real close at the new ones 545 wich are faster and they run high 5's and low 14 quarter mile, dad ordered a CLS however yesterday it comes in in late sep so as soon as it gets here ill get some pics up!!. Range suck too many problems. I never rode in one or anyhting jsut heard that they were pretty quick however like i said we had a 94 seville that had no prob smoking one and it supposedly ran a high 6's 0-60. And yes it was a v8.
They are still nice lil cars i like them.
