You might get a better response in one of the Audio and Video forums than the General forum. Just a thought...

ALRIGHT ! ! !

An anything thread.

Right? I mean, since it was moved, we can talk about anything here? I'd hate to see a perfectly good place to post to go to waste.

Let make fun of people.....

Who's first?

how about i just post my original question since no one reads the multi-media forum.

I just installed a 10.2 in dvd player in my truck . now i want to hook up my xbox to it but i need a power inverter. my question is how many watts of a power inverter do i need? i went to buy one and there are tons of different models.

I bought a 400W one before to power my laptop...was not enough to keep it going...so I tossed it...I don't know much about that kind of stuff, just enough to be dangerous...

The more the better....

If the paperwork that came with your XBOX has the "power consumption" specs,(in watts) that's the minimum size inverter you need. If you can't find the number in the papers, sometimes there's a sticker on the "box".

The ones that plug into the power ports don't usually have more than a few hundred watts. Wiring directly to the battery with heavy guage wire will make the inverter work better.

Best of luck.

Bob

According to Cnet it looks like the X-Box uses 100 watts continues. It dosent say what the peak is but it probably peaks between 150-200 watts at start up. I would probably get a 300 watt peak inverter minimum to make sure I had enough power with out over heating. Just my unprofessional opinion.

I bought a cheap 300W inverter and although I havent used it alot, it has worked fine when I have used it. I bought it to run my laptop to play DVD's on trips to entertain my girlfriends daughter. Works like a charm.
