Friend of mine has a Marlin thutty-thutty, sweet shooting little gun. Fast handling too. I don't hunt, but I wouldn't mind one of those as a plinker.

I've got a Winchester model 94 30-30. I've never hunted with it but I may take it to the range this week now that you''ve made me think of it.

Speaking of new rifles...

Anyone have any experience with 243 WSSM? I am thinking of getting a Winchester Stealth II in 243WSSM. I've heard they have feeding problems, not sure if the source was reliable though.

There's been talk on the highpower boards about the Wizzums and their use as a viable competition cartridge. I don't own one personally, but I've heard through the grapevine that the barrel life is atrocious; with the .223 WSSM, Hornady reported significant throat erosion after only approx. 350 rounds. Most of the short fat cartridges have some problems feeding in a conventional bolt action rifle (like 6BR and the PPCs) but I think Winchester came out with that "controlled round push feed" bolt to get past that.

Yeah, I've read about the short barrel life and such. I've also read in several places that these allegations (sp?) were just a nasty rumour and The barrels in the production rifles are chromed. Anyway I'm not a high volume shooter so I may just give it a try.

I love my WSM guns but I have no experience with the WSSM's. I've had no problems with them and they are some of the best cartraiges I have ever shot.

Everytime he see's it, something happens so no one belives him that there is a 30 point buck. LOL
