Has anyone heard of or read this book. I stumbled across it and started reading the description of it. Apparently it is material collected by Congressman Curt Weldon about terrorists, well, Ill let you read the description of the book.

I am finding myself more and more hooked into finding more on this topic. Here, I found the first chapter of the book offered for free. I am in the process of reading it. I cant get to sleep now. I wish I stumbled upon this tomorrow after I woke up.

Interesting revisionist history. The largest cuts to military spending were initiated under Reagan and carried out under Bush Sr.. Clinton did carry on the tradition for the first five years he was in office. Clintons final budget had the largest increase for military spending since the end of the cold war. Clinton considered Bin Laden the biggest threat to the US, information which was passed on to Bush Jr. and ignored. The bottom line is that Bush Sr. made 2/3 of the military cuts that happened after the cold war. As someone who agrees that media spin (from both sides) is a bad thing, I can't see any value in a one-sided book like this.

After reading the discription of what's in Weldon's book, I question the benefit of such information becoming public knowledge. When the enemy knows what information you have about his operations, he has the opportunity to change his plans. Gathered intelligence becomes worthless if the enemy knows what you have. That's probably why the CIA wanted Weldon's contact to stop talking to him. The guy can't keep his mouth shut and let the information be put to good use.

 

That is the entire point of the book. The intelligence agencies completely ignored Weldon way before the book was written. The point of the book is to make the people angry and demand reform in the agencies.

 

I understand what the guy thinks he's doing. I don't think he has bad intentions. I'm just not sure it's a good idea. That's all.

 

Actually, Clinton missed him twice, your "fact" sites won't mention Bush Jr. missed him four times. Let's get passed the all conservatives are good and all liberals are bad thing. They are all politicians and Clinton wasn't much of a liberal, and GW isn't much of a conservative.

 

Actually, it is mentioned that Sudan was trying to pass on information to the US all the way through 2001, up to the 9/11 incident. There is no record of GW personally turning down the information. Intelligence breakdown was blamed. Considering the hamstringing of the intelligence agencies during Clinton's administration, whether Clinton was directly responsible or not, the Bush administration has believable deniability on the issue in my opinion.



I mostly agree with that. I think GW comes at the game with less self-interest than Clinton does. That's just a personal observation based on their actions, personalities, and priorities. At least what little of them I can gleam as a private citizen.

Whoever knows for certain what's really going on anyway. We have to use what we have and trust it; or, we'll drive ourselves crazy with worry.

 

Well we are where we are in large part due to Clinton’s lack of personal responsibility for national security. It is much easier and political smart to sit back and do very little to nothing.

Clinton lobed a few missiles here and there, sent troops all over the place as baby sitters and never restocked all the toys he played with and used up.

Clinton never took ANY bold steps or risked ANY political capital for the security of our nation and we are paying the price now. He let North Korea develop nukes, he gave up many secrets to China to forward their nuke program some 20 years ahead of schedule (money for reelection comes to mind), and many other things he just ignored while he played around in the White House pretending to be President.

And yes, liberals in general, don’t care all that much about the war on terror or about terrorist. They show this everyday with how they continuously side with terrorist, how they report in the media and just their distain for such a free country we have.

I have heard very little from liberals in general or the liberal media about innocent people have their heads chopped off, innocent children being killed by terrorist and now very little about London.

God forbid someone pulls out a whip and rides a terrorist in prison like a doggy, that their makes world news and shows how God awful us nasty and brutal Americans and Britain’s are. Perhaps next time someone decides to get a little pay back from a terrorist in prison camp they should just chop their head off…


We are in a sad state in America and President Bush, to a point, is to blame. He is the damn leader and should lead. Not an excuse, but what makes it extremely difficult is all these liberals (not all, but most) they won’t shut their mouth and continue to whine in a coward voice about how screwed up America is, and how they continually back and support the terrorist with their cause. They do this by claiming when ever a terrorist attack and/or killing happens its America’s fault.

”American soldiers are dying in Iraq because American troops are there…” No there not, their dying because terrorist are killing them.

As long as we continue to have these whiners in America that don’t back the war on terror and its main campaign, at the moment in Iraq, most likely next in Iran, then the closer we get to another major terrorist attack here in America.

Make no mistake, “when” the next terrorist attack happens you will have many of the liberals on TV and radio to blame, for they are backing the terrorist and their cause ever step of the way by their “actions and words”.
